Hello guys, welcome back and today I am going to share my experience of one year with s7 edge so, lets start and get straight to the point that I have always not been fan of samsung's UI and it is same in this review.

S7 edge is a pretty good looking 5.5 smartphone with dual curve edge display with a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels i.e. 2K display and it has a aluminium glass sandwich design meaning it has glass both at the front and at the back covered with the protection of corning gorilla glass and has aluminium 7000 series bezel on either sides of the phone and the aluminium bezel is carved on the back of the phone so, hold on the phone is decent but the glass is a bit slippery. But 16: 9 is old now clearly but dual edge curved display makes it good.

Build quality is also top class with the protection of corning gorilla glass and 7000 series aluminium is strong enough to hold the phone and it does not break a sweat. Personally my phone had been dropped 2 times on marble flooring without any protection and even does not get scratches easily but don't experiment as everybody's case is different Overall, solid build quality.

Talking about the specs, it has samsung's own exynos 7 series flagship chipset which is exynos 7780 and it is as powerful as Snapdragon 820 which is now old by 2018 standards but holds up pretty well and it has a 12 core gpu which is MALI-T20 so, no lack of power even in graphic intensive tasks and it has 32GB of onboard storage and has 4GB of RAM which is decent but not that great. It has all the sensors you could ever find in a phone including magnetometer, barometer, pedometer, etc. Also, the multimedia consumption is just awesome with brighter, immersive and vivid display. It packs in a 3600 Mah battery which is decent enough.

Now talking about software, it is the spoiler because all of that great hardware that the phone packs in is not used upto its full potential just because of Samsung's experience UI but that is quite improved with Android 8.0 Oreo but stovk android is better anyday. Because samsung's UI as always lacks optimization so, all of the samsung's phone with time get slow and unresponsive with time because of that UI but it gets the job done with ease everytime you throw at it. I just want to let you know that the phone cannot unlock its full potential because of that UI.

I again blame that UI that RAM and battery does not perform as high as expected because of not so optimized UI.

Now talking about camera, it is the star of the show because when the phone was launched back in 2016, it just set the new benchmark in smartphone photography because of dual pixel technology which is found in DSLR's and high grade camera so, as a result it had fastest auto focus on that time and back camera with an aperture of f/1.7 is great even today and can compete with phones like One plus 6 without breaking sweat and clicks pretty good pictures in artficial lighting and in daylight and also f/1.7 aperture shows its magic on night photography. But as always the pictures are a bit oversaturated in daylight when compared to iphones they are totally natural and that's a good thing but you can also get that in this phone with pro mode.

Now talking about the front camera, it also has f/1.7 aperture on the frobt which again helps in night and even the group selfies are also easy to take and it records upto 2k video with front camera which is also good.

Well, talking about sound quality it has one single speaker unit at the bottom which is good considering its a single speaker unit and even the call quality is very good the voice was crystal clear to the other person.

IP68 water and dust resistant - you can even take it to pool but under 1.5m of hieght but cover the headphone jack and speaker at the bottom with the tape for your safety. As if the ports would not work until and unless they are completely dry and it even gives warning message.

Multi window and Always On display - samsung debuted the always on display with the s7 edge and its a handy feature but sucks a bit battery life as well and has customizations inside but on the other hand its a bit bloated with useless features.

  • Good display

  • Great camera

  • IP68

  • Solid built quality

-Immersive experience with dual curved display

  • Good microphone and audio quality

  • Battery life is not that great

  • Samsung UI consumes RAM and battery so RAM is also decent enough.

  • slippery because of glass design

  • bloated with unneccessary stuff.

So, considering its 2018 I think One plus 6 and Asus Zenfone 5z are great options to go but if you want reliability with customer satisfaction its still a great phone even today according to samsung standards.

Thankyou !
