I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 from an outlet in Saudi Arabia, where I work for a living. Before I start this review, let me say that mobile phones are VERY CHEAP in this part of the world. I got my Note 3 for just about 35K Indian rupees!

This is a dream phone indeed. In fact, it is more like a PHABLET as it combines all the features of a phone with those of a tablet. It is nice to grip and hold, has a large 5.6 inch screen, is a touch phone, of course, and has a pen that uses the "air-command" wheel to control many of the features of the phone, both the usual ones and the nifty, new ones.

I will begin the review by sharing with the readers that the phone has a 13 MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation, a 2 MP front camera for selfies and for video chats, a range of apps pre-installed, of which those from Google and Samsung are already grouped into folders, and start-screens with a great, easy to use fitness planner, a scrap book to collect stuff from the net or from the camera, a super Note feature, and some routine apps that one uses day in and day out. The screen is lovely and is a riot of colours made to lift up your mood if at all you are depressed or tired.

The charger and battery are novel, and the battery runs through the day with continuous use without failing out, a feature that was sorely lacking in S3, the earlier Galaxy that I used for a year before buying the Note 3.

Coming to the "air command" feature, as soon as you remove the pen from its casing, a circular air command wheel opens in the right bottom corner. It allows you to search the phone, open various features like the contacts, the phone interface, allows you to write on the existing wallpaper or draw something there, and so on. This nifty air command wheel is what makes the Note 3 special!

Coming with an internal memory of 32 GB, this phone delivers the goods! Go ahead and buy it, even though it is much more costly in India. You will not need to shift to S5, I assure you.

P.S. I got this phone at a slightly discounted price as there are no taxes in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
