Value for Money: finally I found out who the real king is! I'm amazed that not many people use SuSE, as compared to RedHat or Mandrake... Believe me...installation of linux couldnt have been any easier...what with the YaST by Novell managing everything..right from installation to changing any components/ cant get any easier... YaST does what anaconda does for redhat...but YaST does much's a tool that you can fire up anytime... whether you want to configure your hardware (modem, network device, display settings, joysticks, etc...) or just add/remove some software packages... YaST does that and more... besides YaST, there's SaX2 configuration tool... but I haven't used that much...

If you are a game freak, there's loads of stuff for you in SuSE..try TORCS, racer, TuxRacer, etc... if you like 3D stuff... and guess what..there's one flight simulation game too!!! then there are loads of puzzle games, board games, arcade games etc etc...the list goes on...and there are 2 versions of world's the best game ever...minesweeper! One for Gnome and one for KDE...enjoy!! SuSE 9.0 comes with KDE 3.1 ..but maybe 9.1 comes with KDE 3.2 ..I dunno the original kernel that came with SuSE 9.0 is 2.4.21-99-smp4G ...but i'm trying to get 2.6.2 working on it... I can go on writing about SuSE...but just to conclude...I have tried redhat 9.0, mandrake 8.2 and knoppix 3.2... and SuSE 9.0 is the best among these...I'd like to check out mandrake 10.0 though...cos mandrake 8.2 was good too..but redhat is too basic..give something more userfriendly to that common home users can easily use it.... If you are a basic home user, SuSE is what you want... and pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee format that Windows drive NOW! Linux is rules! Even if you aren't a computer freak...

SuSE is very very user friendly...that's some really tough competition for Mandrake, which boasts of user friendliness... Once I tried to format an NTFS drive using Windows XP disk manager... and guess failed!!! even Partition Magic failed!! And Windows XP never booted again!! And DOS fdisk showed only 10 GB of my 80 GB harddisk!!! but nothing happened to matter how much I played with the bootloader and thanks to K3B (a cd writing programming that came with Linux), I could take backup of all data on windows drive and then format it completely while reinstalling windows...and guess what...that failed to recognize full 80 GB too!

So in the end I downloaded Seagate DiscWizard thru Linux and formatted everything...Just because Windows XP crashed, I had to reinstall Linux too...Good I had SuSE..YaST make the installation so much comfortable... Now you know what I mean by ''Windows is creepy!'' Ever wondered why Windows hangs so many times with giving you a hint?? Just use Linux for a month and you'll forget that 'computer hangs' even exist! And if at all Linux crashes once in a blue moon, it gives a messege 1st stating what problem is occuring...atleast you know what is going wrong and maybe some expert can rectify that with this information! Give it a try won't repent at all!
