ROYAL ENFIELD HIMALYAN REVIEW

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is the highest revving bike of all the RE series till now(2/1/18). The engine makes 32Nm of torque at 4500 rpm and 24.5 BHP at 6500 rpm. The bike has taller gearing and will reach speeds upto 130KMPH. The Bike will cruise at 100Kmph and vibrations are minimal in comparison to other Enfields however, the bike still has more vibrations than the Dukes and the Pulsars. The bike handles way better than other Enfields on and off road. The 220 mm travel of suspension really helps when on off - road situations. The Bike is Carburetted(old Version) and the new version(FI) is considered to be more refined and has slight cosmetic changes. The older version is considered to be more loud when it comes to engine note. The only nitpick is that the 2nd gear of the bike is set up in such a way that the bike will ratlle on low RPMs. A second gear shift can be planned only when one is above 2000rpm or is half clutching otherwise be prepared to listen to the engine rattle especially on carburetted versions .Service is cheap, parts are available and some parts are interchangeable with other enfields. Mileage on a good day will vary beetween 35kmpl to 40 kmpl. The tyres are ceat XL grips which are decent for the price. There is good grip in on and off road situations. The engine note is the most unique of all Enfields . This bike is probably the cheapest road legal dirt/adventure bikes in India until TVS releases its professional dirt bike models or until Kawasaki slashes it prices on its KX / KLX series of dirt bikes( seriously? a 7 lakh ex showroom price dirtbike with a 6lit. fuel tank on a price/mileage conscious buyers market?)
