This is a very nice and easy to use camera with all the features of an SLR that you might need. It has a 28-110mm zoom lens featuring an aspherical glass lens and a variable power flash.

Its unique design makes it easy to hold, adjust and take picture. The zoom lens and flash are initially closed and elegantly slide open when the camera is turned on. This however also draws a lot on the battery power and hence can also be viewed as a con.

Loads of user friendly features which are all explained in the manual that comes along with the camera makes it a joy to use. The pictures that are produced are very high quality and I have not noticed any difference in picture quality when using Kodak, Fujicolor or any other film.

One of the best features of the camera and I felt may be unique too is the fact that you can switch into panoramic view by the flip of a switch. I have had experiences with cameras where you would have to fit in a special frame inside the film compartment and could only remove it when the entire film was done....hence having an entire reel of panoramic shots (even if you didn't want them that way). But with the IS-30 DLX, you have control on which shots you want to shoot in panoramic mode and its all done with the simple flip of a switch. The camera also allows different settings as all SLRs do and the fact that it incorporates auto focus on zoom makes life much easier when compared to using a standard SLR.

I've been a big time fan of Olympus and I've had this camera for the last 3 years now with absolutely no problems whatsoever. This particular model comes as IS-30 and IS-30 DLX. If you want to enjoy the panoramic switch option, make sure you go for the IS - 30 DLX version. Knowledge of SLR cameras and their many uses will definitely go a long way to your enjoying this camera.
