This is my first Nokia smartphone and I am very happy with it. What compelled me to go for the phone was the design and looks of the device and coupled with it the plethora of features it has to offer.

The reception is great, even in cellars and other areas where signal strength is low, the phone performs exceptionally well. The cool blue backlight of the keypad is very pleasing.

The keypad of the phone is decent, but frequent SMSers would require some time to adjust to this keypad, because the top row keys would be little hard to access initially, especially if you have big thumbs, but overall the keypad is decent with good tactile feedback.

WLAN rocks!!!!!! Internet access from the Nokia N80 is blazingly fast if connected through WLAN, it also depends on the hotspot, but the phone performs beautifully. EMail access on this phone is simply superb and so is the built in web browser, it is simply superb and great, it lets you download media files (pictures and sound files) directly from websites onto your phone, I really love this feature.

The camera is good an takes great pictures if taken in natural light i.e. outdoor photography is good, but if pictures are taken in artificial lighting conditions, graining can be evidently seen. One interesting thing is that you can shrink the picture (resolution and file size) if you so wish to. There are different shoot modes on offer which can be tinkered, like red eye reduction etc, like the ones found in digital cameras, but the camera of Nokia N80 cannot be compared with that of any digital cameras.

Sound quality through the speaker is less than satisfactory, Sony Ericsson rocks in this area (I previously used SE W500i), and the equilizers are not of great help, the music sounds the same. The earplugs bundled with the phone are of average quality or maybe less than average!!!. The Sony Ericsson's earplugs are out of the world. One thoughtful feature added, though copied from SE is providing an audio connecter to the phone through which you can connect your normal pinned headphones or speakers(this makes up for the less than satisfactory earplugs quality bundled with the phone).

Another interesting feature is the automatic adjustment of brightness level depending on the ambient light and the power save mode which extends reduces the power consumption and in the long run will add more years/time to the display mechanism of the phone.

Overall a great phone to own, if you can utilize the great many features on offer, like 3G, WLAN, EMail access, Instant Messaging, Home entertainment networking, etc.
