Went to see New York with a cousin today, evening show..ppl rushing..we got the tickets at the last moment and managed to see the movie from the very start. Guess what, we also got to see the promos of the forthcoming flicks...Love Aaj Kal was very interesting..waiting for dat actually.

Anyways, getting back to New York, Saturday evening thought would be fun, I am not a fan of John, Neil, or Katrina for that matter but I have nothing against them either; and was hoping that this trio will give me something to smile..but....

Not revealing the plot much...actually I dont know where to start, the movie actually starts with Neil being taken away by THE FBI and him having no idea what his offense is. He is forced to tell his story to Irrfan who obviously is an FBI agent..the story goes in flashback starting from his first day in the New York University. Katrina enters, John enters..we wish the story would enter..nothing new.."junun" song tries to show their bonding..Neil's unspoken love for katrina, katrina and john becoming an item etc...leaving the details...Somehow Irrfan manages to convince Neil to get back to Katrina and John's life because John is a terrorist now and he has planned something big which the FBI wants to stop...phew!!

Anyways rest of the story involves neil living with john and katrina (who are btw now married and have a kid), there is john's flashback story of how and why he became a terrorist, katrina's emotional breakdowns etc. The movie's problem is that we as audience don't know how we are supposed to react or feel with the different situations unfolding..its not a love story but it tries tobe that, its not anti-american but it tries tobe that also, its trying tobe anti-terrorism but it shows soft corner for the terrorst also.

And above all..the movie actually tries to preach that its time to MOVE ON and not get caught up by hate!! Please!..I would request Aditya Chopra either stick to entertainment alone or give the cause you are trying to show that you care for its due credit. Nobody needs your half-baked ideas about moving on and being a muslim etc. in a typical bollywood style.

Its a confused lot..About acting, only Neil Nitin Mukesh is good and plays his part efficienly. Katrina inspite of getting a tailor-made role as per her personality is not at all convincing, and as for John its good that he's there in the movie but does not have too much to speak..because we all know he cannot act. Films narrative could have been better, the songs do not impress. New York's beauty or lifestyle not shown in the movie, the city has no character and the foreigners are unidimensional. All in all its a waste of time, but again if you are fan of any of the three stars..go splurge.
