It goes without saying that this movie will leave you in tears. Based on the tragic true story of 23-year-old airhostess Neerja Bhanot, who lost her life helping passengers escape from Palestinian terrorists on a hijacked Pan Am flight in 1986, this movie offers a perfect tribute to her heroic deeds.

The first half of the movie is entirely focused on Neeraj's(played by Sonam Kapoor) usual life. Even though, the action movies to the flight 73, we still see a few tid-bits of her life. Her bad marriage and her new relationship with the new partner(Shekhar Ravjiani) are covered in passing in the movie.

The movie picks up pace in the second-half, as the plane is hijacked by terrorists. Here, we see commendable camerawork by the filmmaker. You can almost sense the fear among the passengers. Apart from few clumsy scenes, the movie picks up the pace pretty well.

The moment which breaks your heart is the coffin scene(when Neerja's dead body arrives at her parents' house) in the movie. Commendably, the director of the movie Ram Madhvani has kept this scene devoid of unnecessary wallows. He lets the actors convey their emotions, allowing the scene to have the dignity which it deserves.

Sonam Kapoor has acted with maturity. Leave aside few blemishes, you can see her completely immersed in this character. Yogendra Tikku is perfectly cast in the role of Neerja’s father and Shabana Azmi(Neerja's mother)owns practically every scene she’s in, adding little realistic touches to make the character her own.

My verdict on the movie; do go for this flick. It will definitely be a perfect tribute to this real-life heroine, who controlling her fear, tries her best to save the passengers.
