Give me a reason to live

Send me a season to jive

This is the place where I would always survive…

Must be well earned points , that I stumbled upon a place like this;The thought which teased my mind throughout my journey back home from Murud Janjira.

As we crossed Alibaug , I came on a road which bordered the sea throughout, a few places the road and sea being are nearly on the same level. The most picturesque view you can see of the sea from here, I was rapturous by the lovely vision!! Never knew that the journey from hereon is the destination to find my being. A place which will make me meet myself and bring on something which I had dreamed since ages!!

A place of my dreams, Murud fitted perfectly into the description.

The resort was located right on the beach and was a delightful yet simple place to stay. Cottages and rooms were well equipped with necessities required for comfort. But what I fell in love instantly was that there is way which directly lead from the cottage and took me to the vast Konkan beach of Murud.

I was reminded of a fairy tale castle by the sea when I saw the Haveliof Nawab ,strategically situated on a high cliff, hit by long waves, every now and then.

And then my loitering view is constricted by a building in the middle of the sea. The Kasa Fort.Yet another fort is the marvel of Murud , which gives it the name of Murud-Janjira, the Janjira fort. Built right in the middle of the sea, it is nearly 3 kms away from the land. The fort has the fables attached to it ,as being the unconquerable fort ever in the history. It’s a marvel in architecture with the strength it stands amongst the high and strong waves of Arabian sea.

A small rock where I sat and viewed the scenic, a light house came into the view too as the dusk paled the light of the day.

The flora and fauna is near identical to that of Goa. The lovely palm trees leaning to one side border the roads and beaches and of course there is always a scare of a palm dropping on the head while enjoying the view.Like every beach destination that attracts tourism there is a chowpatti and horse-carts giving rides to and fro on the beach.

Murud is a town which can be enveloped in one glance , small neat houses in a row, even the buildings of the offices down the street where I took a walk daily are dainty and quaint; huts shaped buildings with thatched roofs claimed the office of the Customs, the Court, Police Station ,post office etc.

A walk for me included a must stop by me at a small shop or Khokha where I had my share of steaming Cutting chai and mouthwatering vada-pavsor misal-pavs.

As I sat by the morning to watch the sun rise, though which mostly I couldn’t view because of cloudy weather, but consecutively a feature which caught my attention were the fishermen. Murud was the first instance where I noticed that the sea rose to a high tide in the mornings rather than evenings. And viewing the fishermen struggling in high tide without a scare of being swept by high waves!!

Murud also seems to be a perfect writer’s recluse and I did pen a few musings or can say ramblings, on that rock which overlooked a sea alongwith a steaming mug of coffee.

As the wind lift up the all the leaves and scatter my pages in reckless abandon;

A wave ends on my footstep;

And I get soaked by its exuberant gush!!

Somewhere in the horizon a rainbow smiles !!
