The T-190 was my first mobile. I had a limited budget and wanted to get the best out of it - features, looks, performance (and I didn't want to be seen with a Nokia). I got it for around Rs. 4000 a year back (it's much cheaper now) and is still running strong. It is a compact and good-looking phone, even though I didn't like the translucent front-panel very much.

The battery charging time is faster than other phones and the backup is decent too. Ringtones are loud enough and the vibrating mode VIBRATES. The thing is sturdy too; it has survived many a fall and crash with only minor bruises.

On the leeward side - it's HEAVY. No, not Sumo wrestler heavy, but speaking comparatively. This is mainly because of its battery, which is of the Nickel Metal Hydride type, rather than the lighter Lithum Ion type. The keypads are very small and SMS typing (it has a 795 character SMS) is difficult and the colour on them also peels off (and so do the letters and numbers inscribed) on long term use. The antenna may be a deterrent to some, but it is sturdy enough to survive in a tight jeans pocket.

The Motorola T-190 is value for your money but also compare the features of the other phones in its price bracket before you take the plunge and moreover note that Motorola has archived this model.
