My wife was admitted for treatment of bilateral pleural effusion at MAX, Mohali. The water from her lungs was removed and a sample was drawn for biopsy test. Without waiting for the results of biopsy test, for the reasons best known to Dr. Gautam Goyal, she was administered chemotherapy. Dr. Gautam Goyal had informed us after getting biopsy test results that my wife would not be put on chemo any more and instead would thereafter be subjected to hormone therapy and targeted treatment based on biopsy test results. It was however too late and the stated treatments could not happen as after chemo, my wife’s condition started deteriorating day by day . We learnt from informed sources that because of chemo, her platelets and TLC counts went down heavily damaging her body immune system totally. Consequently, one by one her organs started failing. Ultimately, she expired

Evidently, my wife was administered chemo without ascertaining whether she would be able to sustain it or not. Moreover, it was avoidable going by biopsy test results. This is a sheer killing. Had she not been put on chemo, she would have survived.

It appears just to meet the corporate financial targets fixed by Max and to justify their salaries, doctors are playing with the lives of the people. They have become totally inhuman. The medical profession once considered a'Noble Profession', at Max Mohali has become a butcher house where people in white, to meet corporate financial targets, are committing murders of hapless persons day in day out without any fear. Because of such incidents people are slowly and slowly loosing faith and are scared to come for treatment at Max Mohali.

I wish that a regulatory board comes into existence that has the power to check, why a patient was treated in a particular way. Whether the particular treatment, that led to the death of the patient, was really necessary!
