Suddenly the National & Regional broadcasters of the  television channels had one breaking news " High level of lead content" and hazardous for consumption.  A series of debates with flash on television sets confusing people with fear of life.

Although I loved eating Maggie from the college days, as it was the simple food that can be prepared just in time and delicious when it is served hot. The Maggie is manufactured in India, the manufacturing plants are in different parts to cater the requirements. The product is sold more than 30 years in India and it is a market leader.

What has changed? Although the content is not good for consumption; I believe that   to manufacture noodles, no ingredients are imported or just in case of mobile, no parts are assembled? Then why so? Is it because the ingredients used in preparation of Maggie over the years have been contaminated?  I am not a expert but my view is as follows;

After the controversy around maggie;  in the print and visual media, the company clarified that the product is within the permissible limits of food and safety standard regulation of India. There are Pretty passionate arguments in favor and against. Each one has its own merit. No doubts about that. Yes it would take some hit, and has to lie low for some time. Has to do some damage control costing money and attention.

So the bottom line.?

Our lifestyles would remain the way they are. Children would continue to have fast food, would remain difficult to feed, and the hard-pressed housewife would have to have a recourse available. Period. You may have a new avatar of Maggi, but it would be there for sure.

The thought that comes to my mind is why Maggie has to be within the prescribed limits rather than below the prescribed limits is some one holding them to do so? Untill maggie was a food product nobody bothered to know the ingredients, when it focused its advertisment that it is an nutritious food then the food authorities became alert!

May be the indian food and standard department not only check the standard of the food but also need to analyse the soil as may be use of too much fertilizers and pesticides gets inside in what we grow!
