: I recently visited Los Angeles..............it was a dream come true for me because I had wanted to visit Disneyland ever since I've been a little kid............Apparently I was taken there with my elder sister when I was 2 or something and let me tell you that it is definitely not one of the things that I recall .........( not that I recally many others)............however I have seen several pictures and needless to say I've been longing to visit 'the happiest place on earth'...........Well as luck would have it...........

I came to NY to pursue a college education..............and thus 18 yrs after my first visit there I got an opportunity to visit the land of disney a second time.......... and DISNEYLAND wasn't the only place I was looking forward to.........after all LA was the land of Universal and paramount and hollywood...........it was bound to be exciting beyong belief.................wellllllll...I can't say I didn't like it but I can't say I wasn't disappointed either...! The first few hours of my time there was spent outside the airport which was fairly nice but nothing spectacular..........there was a structure next to it which was also possible part of the airport.........spaceship like on 4 large legs which was pretty impressive though..

The drive through the city was alright....there were a lot of freeways.........but it didn't impress me the way a visit to a country in Europe would and there was hardly anything scenic about it.....There weren't even any nice looking buildings and so it didn't even give me the kind of city feel that New York does....there was something slow and bland about it..........As my trip progressed I got the opportunity to briefly visit a variety of spots in the city.....Rodeo drive..melrose drive...farmer's market..some mexican area where La was born apparently....venice beach........

To give credit where its due I liked Rodeo Melrose and farmer's market....but these were shopping areas and nothing that couldn'tbe find in New York.......I didn't get a chance to experience much of the nightlife but I could sense that it would pale in comparison to New York in terms of the number of places young people could go to........Another put off was the distance factor........everything seemed far way from each other with vast expanses of land in between..........

The venice beach that everyone raves about was nice but not nice enough to make me love LA...and I wasn't there at the best of times........... The weather however, was wonderful and made life all the more pleasant there..... Now coming to the famed Hollywood......................big anticlimax.............. firstly,,...the big white letters spelling hollywood on a hill are only visible from miles away and are nothing llike they seem to look on screen...they are definitely not worth raving about........

Secondly.......the starwalk which I'm sure everyone has heard about is just this sidewalk which happens to have these starthings on them............it is nice but not spectacular........ the people on the streets are mainly black and spanish in most places and public transportation may put u off as these ppl can get after you sometimes........

Los Angeles is a place where the vast disparities between the different classes of society become evident what with the rich not being seen because of being in their cars with rolled up windows and the lower middle class having to travel in buses and the like..........nothing like New York where everyone coexists despite the differences that they may have...... However however.........despite the fact that I did not love the city..............

I have to say that my trips to Universal and DISNEYLAND..were more than satisfactory..........they were all that and more than I had expected and I was glad to see that..........Disneyland was truly magical...........its characters....its rides............its fireworks and parades........were wonderful for adults and kids alike........

I highly recommend twilight zone, the tower of terror, pirates of the caribbean..indian jones....the snowhite show........a bugs life show etc

Universal was also an extension of the same kind and it was fascinating to see how movies are made..........I recommend going there early as soon as it opens at 10..so that u can go to all the rides and also watch all the shows....especially the shrek 4D one. All in all I'd recommend LA for a visit but for not more than a week.
