Time to dump Kingfisher beer after 25 years!
Apr 20, 2015 08:19 PM 39444 Views

I am born and brought up in Goa and have grown up with Kingfisher beer gracing all occasions as the beer of choice for the last 25 years. Birthdays, baptism parties, marriage events, etc, etc, are not complete with Kingfisher beer. Downing 5-6 beers(650ml each) was common for me at parties with your group of friends around for company.

But lately, since the last 1 year, I have noticed that even a small Kingfisher(330ml) now gives me a brutal headache that lasts for over 24 hours. This is not the hangover type of headache. First I thought it could be fake KF beers arriving in the Goan market.

But closely inspecting the beer cartons and bottles proved otherwise. I then switched to Tuborg and the headaches were gone. But on certain occasions when the only option was KF, my headaches were back. I then googled and came to know mostly all beers made in India now have glycerine added to it to act as a preservative. There are even some blogs that show that you can remove this glycerine by inverting the beer bottle in water. You can google this out.

I have also noticed the same headache issue with a couple of my other buddies too.For now, no more Kingfisher beer for me. I have switched to Tuborg/Carlsberg/Heineken. If no beer is available I prefer whiskey or even leaving out alcohol altogether and drink water!
