The best P2P client?

Kazaa is supposed to be good software to download different kinds of songs, movies, games and various other clips. I accept the fact the fact that there is quite a good collection in the P2P network of Kazaa and it may be even better than the other P2P softwares like Limewire, Morpheus, Xolox, e-Mule, e-Donkey etc.

Kazaa downloads at a faster rate than the others and it has got a large number of users increasing the probability of finding an active user who can share a file which you want to download. There are lots of rare clips in the collection and there may be some files you haven't ever dreamt of finding there. But these are not the only things waiting for you.

Gives some nightmares

Your worst nightmare can haunt you in a few hours. After downloading for some days, you may find your computer too slow in addition to the usual pop-ups which this program can lead to. The adware may be because of Kazaa being a shareware version, but the spyware which is in the program are not going to be anyway helpful to the PC.

Try using any spyware detecting program and you will find a number of spyware in the list - you can download the Microsoft Antispyware from and give it a try. It will find all the spyware and if you try to run Kazaa after removing these spyware, the program re-installs all these spywares to get the spy work back in full form.

All errors you wish for

The Kazaa 3 which I downloaded from a site itself had a virus in it which affects the system registry and the task manager leading to critical errors. If you download from, this problem won't happen, but the chance that your system will hang and get slower and slower is still very high due to these hidden spywares which drink our blood even better than Dracula and all the mosquitos on the planet!

There is an option of using the older versions of Kazaalite and Kazaa++ (buying the newer versions with cash may not be everyone's cup of tea) which are not the sharewares like the simple, usual Kazaa, but they got some problems in detecting the internet connections if you are connecting through a LAN, a NIC to a cable modem. It may not detect the connection or may break at regular intervals.

It also doesn't have the interesting looks of Kazaa 3, but it is better in keeping your system safe, but not completely. P2P networks are still not the best places to trust and it will be great to have a Norton, McAfee, AVG or atleast Avast to save the day as well as the precious computer through which we log onto mouthshut.

Nonstop horror

I have spent hours, days and even months in searching and downloading from Kazaa and Morpheus - two P2P clients which gave me the rare opportunity to format my PC thrice in two months and re-install different Operating Systems starting from Windows 98 through Windows XP to Linux Mandrake and Fedora.

This is the reason why I am using torrent clients like Bittorrent and Bittornado (check out my review on bit torrents software) which won't permit any spyware. Atleast it is based on the links and not the usual P2P sharing. Well, who needs P2P clients - especially sacrificing your privacy as well as your PC performance?

The hidden parasite

As spyware is a program that resides in your computer and sends unhealthy information without our own consent, like a parasite, it may be a better option to avoid Kazaa and save our own computers. Built-in virus protection doesn't do anything about the spyware as the program itself is a spyware or adware.

The fact that the uncompleted downloads can be played may not be enough to make us feel good enough. It just fails to give the users a secured feeling - you just can't put your data under risk for some downloads which you can get from some other sources also. The other P2P clients are no exceptions and some of them may be even worse than this.

I am using Avast antivirus and Zone Alarm firewall, I don't have the fear of a virus attack or hacker any more. You can try Kazaa, but be prepared to face what is waiting for you.

Even your antivirus and firewall won't save you from spyware - the only thing you can do is to uninstall it immediately or face the consequences. If you are ready to take the high risk only for some files, keep going with Kazaa.
