THIS IS STORY OF 2011 and was lying in my MS Drafts. Got the chance to see it today so publishing it.


I don't own any Hyundai Product now but 6 months ago I had paid a visit to buy Creta and felt disappointed with sales team behaviour.

I had my problem with brakes on my Santro. I was not sure that whether Kothari Hyundai at Kharadi has repairing shop or not. I did what I usually do, I googled their number and heard a sweet voice of Gentle lady from that side.


Lady: Good Morning, Kothari Hyundai.


I: Madam, do you have servicing center also. I have problem with my car.


Lady: Yes sir.


I: are you accepting the vehicles today?


Lady: Yes sir


I: Timings?


Lady: Morning 9 to evening 7.


I: Do you accept credit cards?


Lady: Yes sir.


I: Thanks a lot


Then I drove almost 12 kms on my odometer and reached to Kothari Hyundai. The gatekeeper made a note of my reading and let me inside.


Ok now I moved to reception and described the problem to a gentle lady standing over there(I will call her Seeta in my conversation as I don’t want to reveal the identity). Ok Now see how conversation turns into argument and then end up with battle.


I: Madam I wanna put my car for repairing as I am facing problems in low speed.


Seeta: What problem sir?


I: my cars brake did not get release.


Seeta: Have you taken any appointment on telephone before coming?


I: Yes, I called you up before coming,


Seeta: Please tell your name.


I: Shantanu Shukla


Seeta: But your name is not here. You have to come on Tuesday now.


I: But that’s unfair. Why you have not told me that I need to take an appointment when I was talking on phone.


Seeta: But you did not speak to me. Please come on Tuesday, We can not accept your car.


I: How do I know, whom I had spoken? Please fo favor, I have to go Shirdi tomorrow


Seeta: Ok, What time you have called up?


I: Around 09:45 HRS.


Seeta called up Geeta(another female staff who was already annoyed with the customers like me)


Seeta: Geeta, Sir is saying that he has spoken to you and told you about the breaks problem.


(Errr… What is this? Whole blame on me!) Now geeta look towards me


Geeta: I have not spoken to you. When you called up?


Seeta: Why you have not made the entry, if he told about brakes?


I: Excuse me, Gentle ladies. Ms. Seeta First thing I have not told about brakes, because I was not aware of telephonic appointment. Second thing I am not saying that I have spoken to Ms Geeta.


Now Seeta told Geeta to solve the problem and left the place.


Geeta: Sir if you have not taken the appointment then you have to come on weekdays.


I: Madam, when I was speaking on telephone why you have not made me aware that I need to take appointment. I am coming from 12 kms just to get my repairing done. Please understand I am going to SHirdi. It’s a small problem.


Geeta: Ok, tumi doon minta thaamba, mee konhi laa vicharto.(You wait for two mins I will ask some to help you)


15 Mins passed. Meanwhile I had read the chart of labour charges. Which I there and rates are desrbed for all level 2 cities. Whole servicing charge for 650/- and wheel balancing cost was 280/-. Below that they had chart for escalation level.


I: Madam, can you please pay attention. Its 15 mins now instead of 2 mins.


Geeta: Just two mins sir I will assign a services analyzer for you.(service analysts are people who take a note of your problems in simplified language and then explains the technical work to mechanics in their term. This is something good ?)


Again Ten mins passed


I: Madam what is this, do you have value of time. You say me that come after 30 mins, I will come after 30 mins but what is this 2 mins 2 mins.


Geeta: tumi asa kasa boltat sir(How can you say like this) You can see I am already busy.


I: Its none of my headache please


Geeta than went and came with Asgar Bhai( Name changed) who is service analyst there.


Now asgar bhai and I have been on a drive.


I: Asgar bhaijan, when I drive my car in low speed I feel the brake pad keeps jamming and releasing. Also my vehicles pulls left.


Asgar Bhai: Ok sir we will check.


Asgar bhai phone rang. Tiding ding tiding ding din(Nokia Do-Mi-So Tune) Asgar Bhai is now busy on phone and driving simultaneously. I don’t know whether he will pay attention on phone, or road or on my car and diagnostic drive completed.


We drive in to show room back. Now conversation start back again


I: Did you analyze any problem?


Asgar: No your car is very smooth.


I: did not you feel brake pads are getting released and jamming?


Asgar: That’s alright, When you leave the accelerator, its obvious engine slow down and come to less power.


I: But asagar bhai how did suddenly comes into the power without putting leg on accelerator( I was talking about moment when brake pads release automatically)


Asgar Bhai:  I told you naa sir, this model of Santro is perfect and does not have any problem of break. Its absolutely fine.


I: was car pulling to left?


Asgar Bhai: Yes little bit, it may be a problem of wheel alignment.


I: Ok please do the wheel alignment.


Asgar Bhai: It wil take 3 hours to do that. You can do onething. You can get it done outside and it will charge you less also and will be done in 30 mins.


(Now it was clearely  understood that staff do not want to get my car in as they have enough work for today.)


I: Asgar bhai I am going to Shirdi. I hope it will not create any problem.


Asgar Bhai: Santro ka yeh wala model to Shirdi kya aap dubai bhi jakar aa jao to kuchh nahi hoga.


I: Asgar Bhai, I sometimes feel that my car is getting out of control when I cross 100 kmph.


Asgar Bhai: Sir why don’t you try i20. it’s a good deal for you. Try it out at our showroom


I: ok Asgar bhai. Thanks


Now showroom was just besides the service center so I walked in to see i20. Now another lady on reception. I wished her morning and told her that I am intreretsed in new car. She told me to wait for two mins. I knew dat its gonna take time as Kothari staff had cooked lot of Maggi and they love to speak Bas 2 min ?


After 5 mins I ping that lady. Then she called one sales person. At a glance I came to know that this sales person I not going to himself. His face was down and had no enthusiasm for welcoming a customer.


I thought that I will fill some enthusiasm in him. I charged up my self and I walked to him.


I: Good Morning Sir


Salesman nodded is head, like he is my boss


I: I am having Santro and I wish to drive a car which does not let me feel insecure when I cruise over 100.


Salesman: We don’t have such cars.


I: What? Hyundai don’t have high speed cruisers?


Salesman: Then you go for terracan.


(See the product recommendation, do u think so a person wanting 2 BHK can buy 3 story villa)


I: I am not talking about driving in 180-200 kmph. My budget is 6-7 lacs. I need a car which can touch 120-130 kmph safely.


Saleperson: Then we don’t have such cars in that range.


I: Maruti has Swift and Dezire in this range. Shall I go or it?


Salesperson has seen me like I am talking foolish things.


I: What do you say? How about i20 or Getz?


Salesperson: Yes its good.


I thought if its good then why he did not tell me earlier.


I: Can we have test drive?


Salesperson: I have only i20 Petrol and its in washing. You have to wait for 10 mins.


I said Ok and been outside. After 15 mins I walked in.


I: Sir 10 mins over


Salesperson: It will take more 15-20 mins. As its in washing process.


Now I was annoyed with their commitment and found better to leave that place.
