This month is turning out to be a mobile release race of sorts. First we had nokia releasing the Lumia 920, 820. Then we had the much awaited Iphone 5. And now the HTC 8X and 8S

Disclaimer - This is a specs review and not the actual one. The mobile is supposed to be released in November this year, you can expect me to write a full fledged detail review then.

I'm in love with the Windows operating system. Its has more asthetic value (the live tiles design gives me orgasms some times ;p) , The apps running on them is more optimized than those on android, and atleast looks to be smarter than the IOS6 and fortunately for the mobile world makes the smartphone race much more interesting. But lets leave it at that right now and focus on this brilliant device.

Lets start with the display

the HTC 8X has a 4.3 inch super LCD2 Display with a HD 720p resolution and a pixel density of 342 ppi (whoa!!!). That more dense than any other phones in the markets which guarantees us clear and crisp images and videos. And the screen size will give us a good viewing experience.

The processor

This phone is equipped with a snapdragon s4 processor which clocks at 1.5 ghz. This is the same processor that runs on Lumia 920 and the samsung ATIV S. This is dual core processor and considering that it is turning out to be a benchmark for most high end windows phones these days we can expect it to be great.

This comes with a 16 GB onboard memory that wouldn't be enough these days , this could be a series let down when it comes to the sales of this otherwise brilliant device. The phone has 1gb of RAM , this can also be a downer when most high end android smartphones come with 1.5 to 2gb of rams.

The phone carries a G-Sensor, Digital Compass, a proximity sensor and the ambient light sensor. The G Sensor is not your ordinary accelerometer (as they claim it to be ) Its a two axis accelerometer. (Is that something better ) . We can only judge it only if we get one of those in our hands. Other sensors are standard ones that you expect from any smartphone these days (i was anyways not expecting HTC to create something revolutionary).

When in comes to connectivity this phone is equipped with 3.5 mm audiio jack, its NFC capable. Unlike the forbidden fruit. It is also equipped with Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n capabilites( you always expect them in a smartphone).

The Camera

The phone has a 8 MP back camera and a 1.9 MP front facing camera . Its powered by the Backside Illumination technology similar to the purevies of the Nokia, and it claims to be the finest smartphone camera in the market with the best low light performance. Much is still to be seen in practice.

The Battery

The phone comes with a 1800 mAh battery , which is good considering HTC 's history of underperforming batteries. And the fact that Windows Apps are less power intensive , this phone should be a long distance runner.

The price

The price of this device is still under speculation but its is estimated to be around - 36000 - 38000 INR which is great considering a huge 74000 INR for the iphone 5 (are they selling phones with embedded jewels ).

The design looks to be much similar to the Nokia Lumia (are we heading to another patent suite here???, lets us wait and see ). But the design looks great with its uni body design and great colour combinations.

On the whole this is a pretty looking smartphone which will be one of the play makers that will help to change the windows market fortunes. But the race is getting interesting day by day and smartphone market is just starting to get spicier.

Comments and criticism are welcome :)
