Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is one of the most notable places of Sikhism. Many peoples come there and take the choicest blessings of Guru Ji.This sacred place situated in the heart of Delhi. It is well maintained by Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee. The place is very calm, peaceful and serene. First time I visited Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, I really mesmerized by the beautiful and tranquil place.

History: A splendid and beautiful bungalow owned by Raja Jai Singh who was a very respectful person in the  Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and now this holy shrine called Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. The eight Guru of Sikhs Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji had stayed here with Raja Jai Singh.During that time there was an outbreak of smallpox and cholera. When he heard the news of this terrible outbreak he spent most of the time to serve the humble and sick people. He distributed free medicines, food, and clothes to needy people. Many devotees came and took the blessings of Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji. Soon the stories of healing powers spread throughout the city. While serving the needy people, he also suffered from smallpox and eventually died on March 30, 1664.Since then it became a place of pilgrimage. Then a small tank was constructed by Raja Jai Singh where people take Amrit to home.

Tourist Tips:

  1. Keep your head covered with any dupatta, scarf or handkerchief. If someone does not bring any scarf, dupatta then many scarfs are available in a big basket which is free provided, placed at the entrance of Gurudwara.

2.Shoes are forbidden in the holy place.Leave them on a rack outside.

3.Maintain silence when you entering the Gurudwara Sahib.

Opening Time: The Gurudwara is open 24/7.

Room Facilities: There are 39 Ac-fitted rooms and 8 non-AC rooms. Each has bathroom attached.Booked your room according to your need.

Things To Do:

1.Attend the Shabad Kirtan(religious hymns) and prayer session and take the blessings.

2.Come outside and get Karah(hoy), Prasad.

  1. Eat Langar from Holy Kitchen.

4.Then visit the museum and learn about the historical events of Sikhism which is constructed by Baba Bhagel Singh.

5.After that enjoy the beauty of Sarovar(Holy Water).

6.The tall Flag called Nishan Sahib is its landmark structure.

Easy To reach: The Rajiv Chowk and Rama Krishna Marg are the nearest metro stations. You can take E-rickshaw or Rickshaw to reach this place from metro stations.

Undoubtedly, it is the beautiful and holy place must visit in Delhi. It's my memorable experience.
