This is more of an enthralling story [well, can I name it so?] than a first date. But this is the closest heading I could find. This is the story of a shy, simple & honest boy from an orthodox Muslim family, who just came to a new city for his studies. He completed his studies in boarding since he was in 9th standard. So, he got used to of the new place soon with whole lot-a friend across streams. Bunking classes & watching movies, freaking with friends & seniors, sleeping over the weekend. Life is going great. He has a classmate, who hates him, fights all the time. The girl is chirpy, bubbly-happy go lucky type & he loves teasing her, keeps irritating her throughout. This went on till she was feeling blue one day & asked him for movie. Don’t know about the movie [could be Hindi or English or Tamil], but it did bring some change in his life. They started speaking in class, other friends sighed, at-last they need not to settle their fighting any more. Days just went… They completed degree, she moved on with her further studies & he left city for studies too. Pages changed on calendar and the calendar too. He is back to the old town, planning to look for a job. Most of the girls in class are married & few are with kids too. But it’s always fun to get in touch back with old friends. While on yahoo chat one evening he saw the smiley yellow against the bubbly girl. Shall I … shalln’t I … just click on send button with a message hi. Oh, she is online & replied too. Lets catch up she says. They decided to meet over the weekend. Oh, but he forgot to take her no. May be she just asked for the heck of it. ‘Hey, we meeting this afternoon naa’ – the sms popped his mobile screen with her name.  Oh sure, don’t take long time to get ready, after-all girls will be girls – he replied. But how she got my number, he thought…

He reaches the decided place. Too eager to meet her… Hah! Little knowing about the future. Oh, she is the same. with the tom boy look [that’s how the professors used to call her in college days] with the mischievous smile.  And the string of weekend plan continued. Both have started their professional life Hey, you remember those fighting days! I used to hate like anything. And now-he asks. She gives a mischievous smile with a sparkle in her eyes.

Days went by, her parents start groom hunt at home. She seems to be unhappy with the entire procedure of seeing guys’ snaps & talking to them over phone. Why is he not here & why this time he had gone for such a long time? The phone rings just then. Ah, his call. She expresses her annoyance over the home scene to him. Will you marry me-he asks. Errrrr  what! He repeats his question. And the voyage starts … She being from a Hindu family the tussle was obvious. But they were confident they would be able to convince the respective families…

It seems the time is the key player here. Another year went off & no change in decision at home front.  What do they do now? Do they wait for parents to understand their kid’s feeling & change their mind or do they go ahead for register marriage & close the story?

What do you think would be the most appropriate proceed for them?
