A tribute to R.D.Burman

Well, I thought I had grown out of bollywood lovestories, until, I came across this one movie. Dil Vil Pyar Vyar is a delightful love story(ies) embedded with evergreen songs from the bygone era.

The plot reveals 4 facets of pyar....

Krish & Raksha played by Madhavan and Namrata

A classic scenario of pure love rising above ego and pride. Madhavan has done full justice to this role and his emotional scenes are a treat to watch. His face echoes Krish's mind each moment. Namrata looks ravishing and acts well too. Their moments together are worth mention.

Hrithik & Jojo played by Jimmy Shergill & Hrishita Bhatt

Well, you have heard this...happy-go-lucky-son-of-a-millionaire meets down-to-earth-but-strong girl, only to be turned down unless he proves himself. Jimmy in his flamboyant role is really adorable and their story renders the humorous zest to the movie.

Dev & Gauri played by Sanjay Suri & Sonali Kulkarni

Dev, a widower who finds it hard to get over his wife's death finds his ''yaadein taaza'' after meeting his nextdoor neighbour Gauri....all because she give him a candle the same way Payal did....pass me the tissue please....

Gauri also has her own share of sorrow, owing to her brother Gaurav (Rakesh Bapat). Gaurav is psychosomatically ill after loosing his love (Riya Sen) in an accident.

The fourth story is the fling between Dev's sister Rachna (Bhavana Pani) and Gaurav.

Debutant Director Anand Mahadevan has successfully churned out an otherwise ordinary story into something very delectable. The dialogues by Sanjeev Puri is worth mention.

I guess this the soul of this movie. I saw it entirely because of the tracks. Those nostalgic songs originally sketched by R.D.Burman stirred emotions inside me that I never knew existed. They are all songs that have enriched us, time and again. And though the remix sometimes make you feel like eating rice with lots of stones, the re-incarnation of all the songs are pretty good.

The tracks are rendered voice by most top singers of the industry today including Hariharan, Kumar Sanu, Abhijeet, Babul Supriyo, Shaan, Sunidhi Chawhan, Sadhna Sargam and more. It is really a tribute to the great musician in that respect. Nevertheless, you feel the difference and may start to crave for Rafi, Kishore Kumar & Ashaji. I ended up digging up all my R.D Burman CDs (the originals) and listening to them with new relish.

All together a worth watch.
