It's pretty long time since we have seen any new story in Bollywood. If you go through the story of movies released during the past few months you will agree that none of the movies was released with a new unique story. Each and every movie, in one way or the other, was inspired by one or more old bollywood hits.

Chor Machaye Shor (CMS) is no exception to it. CMS is a mixture of two great comedies involving twins Gol Maal, and Aangoor.

CMS opens with Shyam (Bobby Deol) and Johnny (Rajpal Yadav) Security persons in a museum plans to rob a Diamond worth Rs.30 crores kept in the Museum on the instruction of Titto (Ashish Vidyarthi) and his accomplice. Shyam steals the diamond, but instead of handing it over to Titto he beats up Titto and runs away with the diamond. Police chases Shyam, to avoid being caught with the diamond Shyam hides the diamond in one of the Aircondition Ducts in an under construction building and he gets caught. He is imprisoned for two years. Immediately on his release he comes to the spot where he has hid the diamond but the under construction building in which he had hid the diamond two years back is now the Head Quarters for Mumbai Police.

Shyam asks his friend Raja (Shekar Suman)a way to get the diamond from Police Head Quarters. Raja who is a actor advises Shyam to get inside the Police Head quarters dressed as a police officer. Shyam enters the Police HQ as Inspector Ram Singh. On entering the Police HQ he helps out the police to nab a gangster who plans to escape by taking one of the female inspector, Inspector Ranjita (Bipasha Basu) at gun point. ACP Ranbir Singh (Paresh Rawal) is impressed by the way Inspector Ram Singh fought with the gangster. Inspector Pandey (Om Puri) tells the ACP that the new entrant does not at all look like a Inspector, but ACP is not in a mood to listen to Inspector Pandey. ACP involves Ram in each and every daring case and he plans to marry his daughter to Inspector Ram.

Shyam the crook bumps across a damsel (Shilpa Shetty), who happens to be the daughter of ACP, and falls in love with her. At the same time Inspector Ranjitha falls in love with Inspector Ram Singh alias Shyam. Once Ranjitha and Inspector Ram are out on duty, while moving out by chance they come across a departmental store being burgled. Ranjitha arrests the burglar who happens to be none other than Shyam's friend Johnny. Johnny calls inspector Ram as Shyam which further creates doubt in the mind of Inspector Pandey. To clear the doubt Ram tells Inspector Pandey and the ACP that he has a twin brother who is a good for nothing fellow. ACP tells Ram to send his twin brother Shyam to his house and ACP employs Shyam as his driver. Once Inspector Ram tells ACP that his mother is not keeping well so ACP and Insp. Pandey comes to his house with no other way out he asks his friend Raja to act as his mother. This twins confusion goes on and on when day by day Inspector Pandeys suspicion keeps on increasing.

In the meanwhile Shyam and Raja makes the ACP to believe that there is some one who looks like the ACP.

Inspector Ram succeeds in finding out the diamond from the Police Station. However the moment he gets the diamond Tony and Titto starts chasing Shyam to get the diamond. In the course of this chase the diamond goes into the hands of Inspector Ranjita and once again the diamond lands in the Police Station.

Whether Shyam succeeds to get back the diamond from the police station. Whom does he marry? As Inspector Ram Singh does he marry Inspector Ranjita or as Shyam does he marry ACP’s daughter ? I feel I need not make shor about the answers to all the above questions.

Performance wise after a long time Shekar Suman has got a role which can leave impression on the viewers mind. Paresh Rawal as usual has done a fabulous job. Bobby, Shilpa Shetty and Bipasha, nothing great about their performance. Om Puri though the role is small the performance is just superb.

In a nutshell nothing great about this movie. Though the film is a hilarious movie there is no originality in the comedy scenes. All these years only stories used to be lifted from old movies now David Dhavan has proved that its not only stories and songs but you can also lift comedies from the old movies.
