Today I am going share some words on water filter buying. The ever increasing population, and the limited resources of water has led to scarcity of water in remote areas as well as cities in india. This is the reason why the business of water bottles 20 litres Jar is increasing. Just because everyone needs safe and clean drinking water, they have to opt for buying a 20 litre water JAR for rupees 50. We get water but it is not clean water for drinking even if the municipal authorities have chlorination, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration. in spite of so many process done by municipal authorities still we do not have fresh and pure water for drinking.

People who cannot afford to buy 20 litres of water a day, have to boil the water for drinking purpose. Thereafter they end up using fuels like gas, kerosene and electricity. We cannot let the water selling business flourish instead we can buy a water filter. There are many brands of water available in the markets consisting of electric and non electric ones. You can choose any of the filters for water filtration

I will help you choose the right water filter according to your needs. So lets begin

Non electric water filters.

Well, if you feel that the water at your home is not very hard, and less micro organism, you can always prefer to buy a non electric water filter which is based on a carbon filter chamber or candle. The water is somewhat safe for drinking purpose. The negative thing about non electric filter is that they can purifies up to some extent, not remove bacteria, does not change the taste of water. Does only sediment particles in water and nothing else can be achieved with non electric water filters. If you have hard water it will only remove dirt particles from water and not change the taste of water, also lots of bacteria will still there in water.

Electric water filters.

There are many companies like pureit, kent, livepure, and other who sells electric water filters. There are many varieties of electric water filters, like RO based water filter, RO UV based water filters, RO UV UF filters. There is a SF filter attached to these filters, SF means sediment filter which removes impurities before the water reaches the actual filter. RO means reverse osmosis, This filter purifies the hardest water like borewell, and gives us pure drinking water. UV filters means ultra violet filters. When water reaches the UV filter chambers, it kill the bacteria using UV light. UF means ultra filters it clears all the micros remains which are passed UV chamber.

If you have very hard water, I would recommend RO UV UF and SF based water filter which is 7 stage water purifier.

If you have moderately hard water, like if you get muncipal water, I would recommend you for UV UF water filter. RO is necessary only when you have borewell like water in your house.

Note: Every electric water filters requires a booster pump to supply water to the purification chambers, without force of the booster pump the water will not reach the chambers in water filters.

Annual maintenance contract

Some water filter companies have the annual maintenance contract at rupees 4000, they charge you in one time for a annual year service, which means they will replace your filters like SF, UV, RO, which are also called as GKK 1 and GKK 2. GKK stand for germ kill kit.

Whereas some companies do not have annual maintenance contract, they do not charge any thing as one time fees, or any contract money, You can call as soon the light turns red on your water filter and you change the required filters like GKK 1 and GKK 2.

Let me conclude, as electric water filters are costly and you also need a booster pump to supply water to filtration chambers. I would still recommend you to buy an electric water filter, because this is one time investment. At Least it is better than buying 50 rupees water bottle JARS. If you calculate the cost, for eg if you buy 3 jar of 50 rupees each per week then it will 150x4=600 rupees per month and per year it will be like 700x12= 8400. Whereas the cost of GKK1 is 1800 and GKK 2 3200. The GKK 1 and GKK 2 mostly lasts for 15 months or more. Every time the cycle would be like first replacement will be of GKK 1 and it last more a than year, and second replacement will be of GKK 2 it also last more than 18 months. The SF filter which cost 600 need replacement after 9 or months.

So basically you will spend annually 700+ 1800= 2500, or 700+ 3200= 3900. Its much better than jar bottle investment of 7200 per year.

What do you think about these tips kindly let me know, suggestions are welcome.
