Part time jobs are fun if you find the right job. Part time jobs are ideal for students who are taking a break during their holidays as well for a working lady/gentleman who wants to earn some extra buck as well as pursue an individual hobby or interest.


In India the concept of part time job is somewhat restricted maybe because of the social restrictions.. there are very few jobs which define dignity of labour.


My friends who are studying or working outside earn extra bucks by waitressing, delivering newspapers,babysitting etc etc and yes also end up having fun.


Imagine being a waitress in India.:) The whole society will be shocked and maybe even boycott you to some extent.. if its a profession its ok but if its a part time job, its a big no no. In fact you hardly get to see women waitresses in Indian restaurants....:):) I guess it will take sometime to accept the dignity of labor in certain professions.


Well thats one aspect but in India people have managed to be creative enough... part time jobs in India also add up to your professional experience if you know how to utilise that extra time.


If you are a writer you can start with freelancing. Freelancing is a common part time job. In the field of creative work freelancing is very helpful in giving you a head start in your profession.


Tele marketing has become a much sought after part time job. This also provides a good foundation for customer relations and support.


Many students take up sales jobs as part time jobs. This works out fine for them as its temporary and it pays well. For example if there is a big fair, like technology fair, exhibition, yearly sales, etc… the sales jobs are worth taking up if you want to earn extra money.


If you are computer educated then you can take up jobs in Cyber café and enhance your computer knowledge while you are working.


Do you like cooking ? well you can open up a cooking class. Do you like event management ? You can start by organising small parties as a part time job and then who knows you will get to organise something really big.


If you are into sculpting and love to do something with hands, join a art school for kids or open up summer camps for kids of your block and teach them something cool. You will end up having a lot of fun.


If you are into social work, you could become a volunteer for working with the handicapped and in the orphanage, visit old age homes, etc. It is not very well paid and sometimes it is not paid at all but the mental satisfaction of doing something for someone who needs you subconsciously matters a lot.


If you like teaching you can start tution classes in the subjects in which you excel. If you have a computer at home, you can start teaching the basics of computers to kids. You can try getting into being a faculty for computer education schools.


There are lots of jobs which are on contract. You can definitely try this type of job as it pays well and it has a definite period of employment. HR related jobs offer lots of contract jobs for freshers and students who are doing internship.


If you want to explore the software field you can enter the data entry operating jobs temporarily, or as a product specialist. You could also work as a freelance programmer.


Direct marketing offers great part time jobs. Join AVON or ORIFLAME and start doing business with them. This business has lot of value and well you can start this business and continue with it if you in any field of work. You can continue this business while you are studying or working. The only thing you need is networking and good communication skills.
