Written by Vasant Kanitjar Hindi Adaption : Ashish DIkey Directed by : Om Katare Chinta Chod Chintamani ( CCC) is staged by Yatri. Chintamani is a dyed in the wool public sector banker who just can’t make sense of either his youngest son’s attraction to becoming a movie star at the cost of his studies, or his elder son’s passion for cricket and his philandering in spite of having a steady girl friend who the family adores and has practically given up on his daughter who has joined an ashram run by a swami.

While he is immersed in his chinta (worry) his parents land up at the house and in the next few scenes, each child’s life unfolds further before us. There does seem to be a problem with each of them and you begin to sympathise with Chintamani.....but then should you? Is this simply not just another case of the “generation gap”? And now we have three generations in the house. So what happens to that gap? Writing any more will give the plot away, but then let me say that for someone who rarely gets the chance to watch plays, this one was worth every cent! The acting is so natural you feel you are a part of the goings-on on the stage.

The dialogues just keep you enthralled and the sharp sense of comic timing that every member of the crew seems to possess has you rolling in the aisles ! Each of the actors has played their part to perfection and are extremely evocative with their expressions.

Extremely well directed, it gives you a feel of events unfurling before you taking you away from the theater into their lives. They played at the Prithvi Theatre Mumbai and are back Schedule 8:00 pm, Sun, February 3, Veer Savarkar Theatre (map link) 7:00 pm, Sun, February 24, NCPA Experimental Theatre (map link) • Schedule courtesy mumbaitheatreguide.com Don’t miss this!
