Chiang Mai, is a scenic beautiful city in northern Thailand surrounded by beautiful mountains. The best part of living in Chiang Mai is its laid back lifestyle and low cost living. It is a favorite place for digital nomads. "Digital Nomads" is a name given to the 21st century online community who work with their laptops from any part of the world. Digital nomads are people involved in Blogging, IT related stuff, coding, web-designing, photography, copywriters, online teachers, Online startups etc.



Chiang Mai is very well connected to rest of Thailand . It has its own International Airport called "Chiang Mai International Air port". Daily there are 28 flights from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, capital city of Thailand. There are also flights to other tourist places in Thailand like Phuket, Pattaya from Chiang Mai airport.


The roads in Chiang Mai are very good. You have frequent buses from CHIANG MAI to other places in Thailand. Green Bus, Blue Bus are private bus brands which operate .


Trains from Chiang Mai railway station to Bangkok or other cities in Thailand are usually more in nights. They are categories as First class, Second class, third class. Usually it takes 12 - 14 hours to reach Bangkok from Chaing Mai by night train.

Local Transport:

Within Chiang Mai, local red taxis and Tuk Tuk are preferred mode of Transport. Bikes are found at very cheap prices may be 200 THB per day. This is very affordable

Buddhist Temples:

Every street of Chaing Mai has one or the other Temple. However, Chedi Luang Temple and Doi Suthep are most beautiful temples and a must visit


1) Doi Suthep National Park, which is located in the highest mountain range of Thailand Doi- Inanthanon. Once, you reach Doi Inanthanon, you see beautiful views of Chiang Mai.

2) There are various tribes who live in the hills of Chiang Mai. Long Neck karen tribe, Akha, Hmong to name a few

Hotels/ Accomodation:

For backpackers, Hostels are good options where you can meet like minded backpackers. Within the range of 100 THB-150 THB once can get good Hostels

Hotels come between the range of 1000 THB to 1500 THB per night . You have lots of variety of Hotels to choose from.


Chiang Mai is very safe City. My one month stay there, I found no untoward incident.
