The sign of decay in 100 years of Bombay Talkies

Four brain-dead short movies by modern celebrity directors suspended together like crawling vermin in a jar of celluloid formalin to insult 100 glorious years of Indian cinema- watch this travesty of art at your own peril. To even pretend that this is commercial cinema is a cruel obituary paid to the dying, discerning and conscious breed of the Hindi cine-goer at the altar of entertainment.

A gay pair, who will or won’t come out, a child becoming conscious of his alter-sexuality, a retard stage wannabe and finally a sniveling man who travels from Motiganj to Mumbai to feed Amitabh Bachchan his mother’s fungal Murrabba in an Achchar jar, is the sad plot of this disjointed narrative.

To shake lose this dispirited trash-can upon the unsuspecting family that trudges faithfully behind the man of the house who has forked out 1500 of the best and crispiest of his hard earned rupee on a Sunday afternoon; expecting to be pampered with their money’s worth but little knowing that it would be far more charitable to throw the money away in the Ganges than sacrifice it for the Porsches of Bollywood Directors; and unaware of the tragedy about to befall them- is a crime befitting none but the gallows.

I am deeply saddened by the demise of creativity, sincerity and accountability in Indian cinema and the manner in which the industry continues to insult the audience’s sensibilities and fine tastes by patronizingly churning out more garbage after another.
