Guys, please have little patience to go thru some what lengthy review:-).

I have purchased the Blue star(big name, poor service) 3HW181YA from Pavani Marketing - Secunderabad, on 1st march, 2009 . I have made the payment on time for this product. Apart from the unit cost - 29, 000.I have paid Rs 1100/ - for installation and transportation charges .Its fitted in a bed room with dimensions(14 X 14 X 16) .The 1.5 tonnages was recommended by dealer himself after inspecting the room. I have/had following 3 main issues with the A/C.

  1. During installation - the dealers sent unskilled technicians for the installation. They make mess of the whole thing and don’t bother to clean up.

  2. Dealer sends the defective unit to me, the outdoor unit makes so much noise that I cannot sleep in the room.

  3. One of the defects of the Indoor unit is that the compressor runs continuously, even though the room temperature reached the value set in the A/C. As claimed by the dealer and the company, the compressor should get switched off when the room temperature reaches the value set in the A/C. This in turn saves the power consumption and increases the life of compressor.

Regarding the first issue mentioned above - dealer wants to have cut in Rs 1000/ - charged for installation, so he gets the less skilled technician to make more money at the cost of customer.

Regarding the second issue mentioned above - I have called up the dealer 5 times and went once personally to request for technician or himself to check the issue. Finally he sends two so called technicians. They stuffed the thin slices of the wood in the gaps of the out door unit to reduce the noise. What a high tech technique the blue star has, to reduce the noise of out door unit(definitely the indigenous one). I'll try to take a snap of the same and upload in this forum. Technician claims that they have fixed some hanging wire in the unit and that fixes the third issue mentioned above. To prove the point, one of the technician changes the temperature while the A/C is running, the compressor is switched off. That’s it; he fooled me and proves that all the issues are fixed. When I tried the same without varying the temperature while the A/C is running, the issue still exists. I wasted my one working day(2 half days) to see this show.

Regarding the third issue mentioned above - I again called up the dealer and said the same issues and asked for the replacement of this defective unit. He comes running the next day(10th April) with the thermometer. He checks the room temperature and sets 3 degree less in the A/C unit and makes it run for 45 minutes .Once the room temperature has come down to what is set in the unit, the compressor has not stopped . The dealer claims the unit is perfect, there’s nothing wrong with it. He says, he needs to experiment for some more time to come to conclusion .After that he's so busy that he never turned up.

My Conclusion is that I have really paid heavy price for the Blue star to buy the defective unit.

I have mentioned all the details here, since I plan to put up the same facts in consumer court to get the justice .This should be lesson for such dealers and company who doesn't bother to respond to consumer once they sell the goods.

I have put forward these issues to Bluestar Company using this link on company website .

Some Blue star company person by name Shankar from secunderabad Blue star( called himself as service manager) has called me up and heard all the issues again over the phone . He says he'll get back to me in 10 mins, regarding the replacement of the unit . He hasn't bothered even after 2 days . Such is the trust they built with customers .

Some more updates on this issue .

Finally, Blue star technician has arrived .

  1. He checked the noise of outdoor unit, he has kept stones underneath the unit and removed the sticks put by dealers so called technicians . But its of no use, the noise from the unit reamins same .He agreed to replace the outer shell and said will speak to his higher up( charanjeet singh) for more technical advise .

  2. Regarding the compressor cut off issue, he had no clue of what to be done and he has blindly written in the service report that the cut off is working . My comments in the report that the cut off is not working .

  3. I have called up charanjeet singh for 6 times but of no use . I concluded that he is in the right place in the right company .
