You might know I’m a great fan of Akai products. The reason is its low cost and durable. Many may not agree in durability terms but from my experience Akai Televisions are immortal. Now they are giving away 54 cm Black Belt model for as less as 8990 Rs. in exchange of your old CTV of any brand in working condition. To add to it they are giving away a MP3/ACD/VCD player absolutely free. If you are still not satisfied or can’t afford it them they have 0 % interest finance schemes with it. It doesn’t get bigger than this. Black Belt comes in two frames one white/silver and other black. It has all features a latest average TV should have.

Output is not big as of LG Soundmaster (1200W) or Onida KY Thunder. Still it is great enough than its previous primitive models. It’s 150 Watts. The sound is really blasting even with 150Watts. There are different sound modes available including Theater, which is similar to surround sound, then Speech for listening to dialogs especially with increased treble. Then a custom mode is also available for you to set the sound. With a online display help it becomes very easy to learn all those features even without a manual.

Picture Mode

4 different default picture modes are available. First one is bright daylight with high contrast. Evening is relatively dark. With custom mode you can set your own colors. A ideal mode is a by default mode when you first switch one the TV. There is no Picture in Picture facility with this one.

110 TV channels, which is 10 more than previous model CT21W. This availability gives the freedom of having many channels and storing them at desired locations. A desired feature could be a Child channel lock. Child lock a facility by which you can lock certain channels meant for adult viewing preventing the minor from having a look at it. (In India we don’t have such channels so this facility can be classified as a luxury).

Channel Scanning

The set is equipped with Automatic TV channel programming. You don’t need to set and save the channels by yourself. You can also program your favorite channels with the help of Favorite Program mode. When a menu button is pressed you get list of channels from 1 to provide with 30 on a page. You can mark your favorite channels to F meaning favorite and it is saved permanently until you erase it. A button is provided to off the favorite setting.

Child Lock

This feature is not available in its competitor models. When you lock a channel with a password the screen becomes blue when turned on that channel. Unfortunately there aren’t any channels to lock in India. Officials scan all channels thoroughly and carefully. So no scope guys! I mean using this feature.

Other feature include Sleep timer for 120 minutes with the resolution (interval) of 10 minutes. Also there is a wake up timer. You can also set a alarm with your TV. To use all the features you first need to set the TV clock. A head phone socket, Audio/Video (AV) sockets are provided on the front panel. This is very useful if you have kept your TV in an enclosure or closed shelf. It becomes very difficult to plug in VCD players if input terminals are provided at the back. Automatic power off when no signal is received. Lastly you can dub from one AV terminal to other. One cheap game is also provided with the TV set. You catch falling balls with the bucket and score.

There are still a bunch of features I haven’t explained. But trust me it’s great buy for your money.
