30th November, 2004, G 7 theatre, Bandra,

Subeer?s B day and we all partied till 8 in the night as we don?t believe in partying till the wee hours in night and so headed straight to watch the movie and we could easily get the tickets of Aitraaz. Sunny was wondering as to how the movie would considering the easiness with which we got the tickets but I was sure that a Abbas Mustan?s movie will always be good enough (ofcourse their last movie Tarzan was a big disappointment for me).

Pre Interval

Raj Malhotra (Apna Akki) is a typical happy go lucky guy who is ever eager to fall in love and has a lawyer friend Annu Kapoor who is in search for an assistant and puts in an advertisement in the newspaper and our ever sincere Kareena Kapoor calls him up to ask whether she could come for an interview. Meanwhile, our Akki is in hunt for a maid and calls up his friend to enquire whether he could get a servant.

I wonder how much times the very same start has been used and how I wish our directors were a little bit more creative and imaginative with their starts.

Subeer and Sunny were getting irritated and so was I.

And as it always happens in our age old Hindi movies, the heroine reaches our hero?s place by default and the maid reaches the lawyer?s residence. The hero as is the case with all the Hindi movies falls in love with the heroine and the very famous sentence ?Love at first sight? happens and even though the heroine messes up with the hero she so easily agrees to his proposal and the very next scene you see them getting married and I wonder whether the first half an hour could have been edited in a more better and serious way.

Yeah I forgot an important thing. Our Akki works for a mobile company which is doing well and has its chairman as Mr. Amrish Puri. Our Akki purchases a dream house with a lot of loan from the bank and also is expecting a promotion to CEO in the company.

The very next scene brings us to the announcement of the promotion with the entry of sizzling hot Priyanka chopra (man? she is really hot). Now the hero gets a promotion as a member of the board of director and not as a CEO. The old flames between Akki and Priyanka seems to be there and this is followed by the night party and there is this usual Naach Gaana where our Priyanka tries her best to get close to Akki, but our Akki is too much devoted to his wife.

The very next day there is the house warming ceremony in Akki?s house and he invites everyone and then comes a call in the morning and he is called to his office as there is a problem with the new mobile that has been introduced in the market.

Our Akki rushes to the office and decides to stop the production of the next set of mobiles and for this he needs the permission of the new MD (Priyanka) and she seems to be busy and decides to call up Akki to the house in the evening.

Enter our Akki in the evening and instead of speaking about the mobiles, Priyanka decides to seduce Akki but our hero is too good and drops that idea and leaves Priyanka in the lurch and walk off.

The very next day our Chairman wants Akki to resign and leave the organization and accuses him of trying to rape his wife (what???? Priyanka is Amrish Puri?s wife?..huh now that was a little too much, isn?t it?

Akki does not resign as he feels he has nothing wrong with anyone and has every right to fight it out in the court if the need be!! When no one is ready to believe Akki, his wife trusts him and stands by his side in this moment of crisis.

Post Interval

Now this part of the movie is what the viewer needs to watch out for. The case comes up for court and Akki employs his good old friend Annu as his friend and fights the case.

Enters the good old Paresh Rawal and he for sure plays a cameo role as a lawyer and exposes Akki to the core and the case is almost won but for the judge who reserves the case for the coming week as is the usual case in all the Bollywood movies. Meanwhile our Priyanka gives a call to Akki and gives him a deal that she will take the case back if he remains her keep for the rest of his life. Akki rubbishes this call and does not answer it at all but Kareena goes to Priyanka and challenges to expose her in the court.

The next few scenes in the court are really gripping as is always the case, truth prevails over the evil and the case is solved giving Akki and Kareena a win over Priyanka and party.

Star Performance and Songs

Akshay Kumar has played his role to mere perfection and so does Paresh Rawal who just seems to be getting better and better with age and with every movie.

Kareena for a change has shed her glamorous look and has given more importance to acting which surely for me is a welcome change and has handled the climax scenes very satisfactorily.

Priyanka for sure steals the show as the wicked seductress and has done a awesome job.

The songs are melodious and Himesh Reshammiya has again done some good numbers such as Tara Tum and Dil Gilaa and even the title track is hummable.

Overall Verdict

Well, the movie surely is worth a watching once as all the stars have given their best which is good. The story and the plot is also good for a change but the dialogues are sad at times.

I would give this movie 4 star .

And I want you all to give your comment on this movie only after you watch this movie and I request you all to watch this movie on a theatre and not on pirated VCD.

Thank you all and best wishes for the winter season.
