Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden is normally called Botanical Garden by the kolkatans. It is located in Shibpur, Howrah on the west bank of river Hooghly. It is named after the famous scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose who discovered that plants also response like animals. It is a common tourist spot for the city visitors. Apart, students from different college usually go their for their excursion program.

There are so many buses that can take you  directly to the botanical garden from various parts of Kolkata. You can hire a taxi also, as it is a popular place, there will be no issue  reaching there.

I have visited this place couple of times, with parents in childhood, with a group of friends in college life, and also with my family in recent past.

Entry fee is only Rs. 20 and you need to pay extra for camera or mobile also. You are not allowed to carry plastic items too.

First and foremost attraction of this place is its great Banyan Tree. It is really worth watching a canopy which is around 250 years old and spreading over a large space.Apart, you will see lots of known unknown tress, orchids from different species in this huge garden. This place not that well maintained, but you can experience the raw beauty of jungle and nature in this garden. More over, you can also enjoy the beauty of small ponds in between the large garden. Actually, there are lots of trees and if you are in a groups you would like to have a long walk inside the garden under the shadow of trees.

It is a good picnic spot and once we went with cooked food and enjoy a silent winter weekend amidst green.

Actually, it is a chill out place amidst of lush green, nothing much to do, if you are just tired from chaotic city life, just take a day off and explore this place for a day's outing, that's it.

I am recommending this place for the visitors also as it will be a nice and different experience for them. It is not like usual amusement park, you can call it a park created  by  mother nature.
