How to reach
By Air: Nearest airport: Netaji Subhash Chandra Airport, Kolkata. The Airport is well connected with other major cities such as Frankfurt, Bangkok, Paro, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Dubai and Yangon. Domestic flights are also available for the cities such as Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
By Rail: Nearest railway station: Howrah and Sealdah railway stations. Both of these railway stations are well connected to all the important cities of the country and solve the issue of how to reach Kolkata by rail.
By Road: The West Bengal state buses let the travelers to come to this city without any difficulty. There are various private buses as well that you can get from here to reach different parts of the country at reasonable cost. Some places near Kolkata are Sunderbans (112 km), Puri (495 km), Konark (571 km) and Darjeeling (624km).

What to see?

Belur Math - Approximately 30 minutes from Kolkata, Belur Math that is located on the right bank of River Hoogly is a temple that is notable for exhibiting Hindu, Christian and Islamic motifs as a symbol of unity of all religions.
It was founded by Swami Vivekananda who was a chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.
The Sri Ramkrishna Temple resembles a temple, a mosque, a church if seen from different positions and the Swami Vivekananda Temple stands on the spot where Swami Vivekananda’s mortal remains were cremated in 190
It also houses several other temples dedicated to Sarada Devi and Swami Brahmananda respectively.
In addition the museum exhibits the artifacts used by Ramakrishna and Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and some of his disciples.
New Market - The New Market is one of the busiest places in Kolkata.
It is located in the heart of the city and is one of the shopping hubs in Kolkata.
The New Market in Kolkata, which is also known as the Hogg Market, is located on the Lindsay Street.
Victoria Memorial - It is dedicated to Queen Victoria and bids an insight into the rich history of India starting from the arrival of British and till the Independence era.
Inside the memorial there is a museum where you can see the dresses of the queen as well as different kinds of weapons used during that era.

Birla Mandir - The Birla Mandir in Ballygaunge, which is one of the posh localities in Kolkata, is one of the major tourist attractions.
It houses several Hindu deities.

On Janmashtami, the birthday of Krishna, devotees come from faraway places to pay their respect to the deities.
