Naxalism is Terrorism!

By: deepak27 Posted Oct 27, 2009 General 3802 Views

The recent spate of Naxal attacks in different parts of the country are really worrying for all peace-loving people. All these days we were worrying about the Al-Qaeda and Pakistani backed terrorism. But now we have the homegrown terrorism (inspired by the Red Dragon), which has become more worrying than Jihadi terrorism.

Today's train hijacking is a real shocking incident. What happened in Bengal can happen in MP, Chattisgarh, Andhra or any of the Naxal affected states, this is really scary and shocking. That a group of persons hijacked a train and got away with it is more shocking. Just imagine if it was a plane instead of a train! It would have become an International incident and the plane would probably be stormed and the terrorists killed. But here the Naxals got away with it.

And the worst part is the politics- Left says Mamata supports Naxals, Mamata of course blames the left for all the problems of the country! And in between we have the pseudo-intellectuals like Arundhati Roy and Medha Patkar who are openly supporting the Naxals.

Naxals should be treated like any other terrorists. They should be apprehended or killed. That would teach a lesson to all those who take on the law! Initially there was sympathy for the Naxals as they professed to espouse the cause of the poorvillagers and tribals. But when they start killing policemen and innocent people, they lose all right to sympathy. And ther supporters too become supporters of terrorism.

It is sad to watch media channelsinterviewing these terrorists and thus glorifying them. The Naxals are available to the media, but the police can't catch them! Is this because of the poor police force or the lack of political will? Recently, Naxals fired on Air Force choppers, but the Air Force was denied permission to defend themselves, let alone attack! In fact, Air force was instructed to stop flying over Naxal areas, cowardiceof the highest form!

It is time the Govt. wakes up and startstaking action, instead of just making statements. The Naxals should be invited for talks, if they don't respond, then 'bullet for bullet' is the only answer. Also, hopefully all the self-professed intellectuals will stop their support for these killers.

Please do share your views, friends on how the Govt. should deal with this menace.
