Please do not purchase any mobiles at Univercell C

By: 14377 Posted Jun 24, 2008 General 3706 Views

This mail is to awake the mobile customers. I am providing my own experience with Univercell (CMH Road).

I had purchased a Nokia 6300 and Motorola L9 on April 22, 2008 from Univercell. I gave away Nokia 6300 to my cousin and personally used the Motorola L9. They both worked fine for 20 days from the date of purchase.

At the time of purchase Univercell assured me the warranty of handsets and if any problems I could take back the handset to Univercell for service or replacement incase of manufacturing defect. On this fine day of May 15, 2008, the Nokia 6300 handset started facing a display problem. It would not show anything on the display but able to receive any calls (In general working is fine except nothing to show on display).

Since I had been out of Bangalore recently and the purchase was in my name, my cousin waited for me to come back and then take the handset to Univercell. I took the handset to Univercell (CMH Road) on May19, 2008. Though the executive who sold the handset to me wasn’t present other staff attended me, they took the handset inside saying they shall show it to their technician, after few moments he came back showing me a crack on the display screen (I had not seen it until the staff themselves showed me that day) and said it was a physical damage to screen so no display. Though there were no external abrasion on marks on handset to say the handset was damaged physically the staff argued it was deliberately done and they could not do anything. I insisted to call the executive who sold me the handset since he had assured me get the service done for handset for any issues. He agreed upon it and took the mobile for service giving me a job card to come back on May 22, 2008.

When I went to collect back the handset on the told date, the executive who sold the handset was present and he too started saying the same reason of physical damage and cannot be done anything for the same, as physical damage is not covered in warranty. I do also use a Nokia 2300 handset of make year 2005 purchased from Nokia priority dealer (Kammanahalli), I have used it so harsh but had never given me any such problems, now this brand new handset purchased from Univercell within a month of purchase gave me a display problem, and the sales staff not taking the blame and instead started an argument .I would also like to mention the behavior of the staff there (One Mr.Menon, in particular using abusive language to me and my cousin, and daringly gave me his number 9980595315, to act against him whatsoever I can).

This incident has undoubtedly given me a suspicion in the quality of handsets Univercell gets, and sells them to the customers.

In fact they can also bring a remark on the brands they are selling. Who doesn’t know the quality of Nokia handsets? But just for making money some dealers use low quality products within the brands.

I would like spread this message to all to raise awareness among all to not get attracted by the offers these private dealers give and get cheated.
