The digital world is full of public display of affection be it family or organisation. Accessing the LinkedIn the professional site or Facebook the personal space you find only happy and smiling people. This is common across all segments and demographics. It has become an trend that chief captures few photographs with the employees in some corner and post them and tweets on engagement. In the Gallup survey on employee engagement survey conducted on 12 questions, one of the prominent question is “Do you have a friend in the organization”. This is to understand that there is someone close so that formal & informal way one can express his concerns, a persons is available to listen and a system that can release stress. To ensure this happens, HR generally organize events to brining bonding for developing dynamics and friendships. This is to way to emotional bonding leading to loyalty and improve productivity. That’s the reason, organizations conduct engagement survey to gauge the loyalty and connect emotionally to get caged. It as an cool evening with dashing lights in the lounge, but the man was feeling hot. The emotions were high and handkerchief used to wipe the free falling tears from the eyes. A close team was constantly speaking and consoling him to overcome the situation. The moment was extremely dark as after twenty-five years of hard and loyalty to the organisation, one fine day, the organization found he is overburden to the organisation and he needs to be changed. The man was lost! The HR guy requested for an updated resume to help him within or out of the organisation. The resume needed to be developed as in past twenty-five years, he thought it was irrelevant to update. Lastly the guy met the Chief and explained his personal tragedy of losing his son in the past few month ago and help him out in this crises. The chief responded “ Be professional not Emotional”…. The search is going on!

This entire metaphor only shows that professional relationship and loyalty to the organisation is short term. The engagement survey is just a show-off tool and an instrument of pride. There are manipulations to increase the score in the attributes for appreciation from the top management. The realty is Engage Mint is just a show-off to ensure we are caged.

So what’s the use of gauging emotions indirectly when in need shown the door!

May be a next Facebook post with emoji’s and Bigger smiles…………. Is just an reminder someone is getting fired to be out of cage.
