Your review perfectly sums up my own sentiments (or lack thereof) of this 2-hr time wastage. Hopefully that half-baked Bhatt will take reviews like these to heart and just stay home the next time. Cheers! WP

Considering that you seem to have become quite the fan of Mistry books, I do believe your writing is worthy of being comparable with Mistry. What Mistry does to fiction, you do to review writing....give it life. I know I'm pretty late in commenting on your review, but nevertheless....splendid jo...b, Karana! I was totally lost in the book, and your review brought back those heart-rending emotions that Mistry is so good with. What was especially impressive was your comparison of Family Matters and A Fine Balance. Only a true-blue reviewer would do that! :) Cheers! WP Read More

Some useless bits of trivia: The development of UNIX began way back in 1969 by Ken Thompson, Dennis Ritchie and other people at Bell Labs (AT&T). Sun and AT&T forged an alliance to develop Sun's version of UNIX in 1987. The co-founder of this mammoth of a company, Sun Microsystems,... was a fellow-desi....Vinod Khosla. Anyway, very nice review about the move! :) Keep writing, WP Read More

Nice review, Ryder! I always have a box of the Tazo chai teabags at work for all the times when the afternoon laziness hits me. Love it, love it, love it! I also like the Starbucks ambience that is in a class of its own. Only thing that peeves me are the overinflated prices. Anyway, nice... review! Cheers, WPRead More

Hi Ryder, Very, very good review! I know just where you're coming from. When I came to the US 2 yrs ago as a student, I was completely blown away with the 'credit' and 'financing' phenomenon. Thankfully, eventhough I have made financial mistakes, they're manageable. If there were a website prov...iding information for students coming to study here, a review like yours would be a truly helpful one to them! :) Keep writing, WP Read More

Hey there, This is one of the few times where I've given a HR rating to a non-detailed, non-lengthy review. But I believe that you've quite succinctly summarized the movie very well. And I second your opinon about the movie taking itself too seriously. Good review! Keep writing, WP

Hi there, First off, Welcome to MouthShut! It's a neat place to be and I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here. Secondly, sorry about the SR rating, but I believe your review should've been a little more meaty with more information. If you'll look through the other music album reviews with HR rati...ngs, you'll notice that they include a lot more like the track names, some extra info on the album etc. Perhaps if you added more of all that your review will be helpful to people looking to buy the album. -WP Read More

Hi Abhishek, This is the first time I've read anything written about that stellar quiz-show by someone who'd actually been there! I enjoyed reading every bit of it....thanks for a super review! Indian TV shows today range from asinine to great. It's good to see that you have a levelheaded h...abit of watching the better TV shows. A nice Confuciusian quote comes to mind: 'Men's natures are alike, it is their habits that carry them far apart.' I see good things in your future! :) Keep writing, WP Read More

Very nice review, Danishmeer! What made me give the HR rating was that you've covered a lot of facets of your trip to Nainital. I do believe it will be helpful to anyone planning a trip there. And that's what makes a good review great! :) Keep writing! WP

Namaste Panditji! Nice review. And I do agree with you on your observations of the movie. As good as the movie was, all I was left with at the end was a question. What IS the point of the movie? Two strangers falling in love under serendipitous circumstances? The infidelity of a wife? Religious ...fracas? Whaddo all of you think? Cheers! WP Read More

Neat lil topic...and some very good, pragmatic advice. I especially liked the one about keeping notes. Hadn't thought about that. Thank you for your insight! I run into many cultural differences at work too, and the stuff you said makes complete sense to me! Keep writing, WP

I had the pleasure of reading Rohinton Mistry's work in my first year of studying out of India. His writing described all of my own memories of India so perfectly, that I was homesick before I knew it! :) My first Mistry book was 'A Fine Balance', which I just could NOT put down. Long before it fea...tured in Oprah's Book Club list, I was already asking all my friends to read it. Since then I read all his other books (Such a long journey, Tales from Firosha Baug etc.) and 'Family Matters' is the only one I'm yet to get to. Thank you for reminding me how good Mistry is.....next stop, the public library! You've captured his style of writing perfectly when you talk about how 'In every word, Mistry’s book breathes and comes alive'. I don't believe HE could've put it better himself! :) Marvellous review! Have you read any Shashi Tharoor? If you like Mistry you'll love Tharoor! Cheers! WPRead More

Good review for a seemingly terrible movie. I have nothing against your opinion of 4 stars.....the HR rating is for the review. I've always liked your style of writing movie reviews with the different 'psst' etc. sections. Keep writing! -WP

I'm glad MS has objective reviewers like you who spare a lot of the rest of us from misery! I loved 'The Entity'.....it was truly scary (albeit with a weak ending of sorts). I personally find the idea of an incubus horrifying and it would've been nice if this movie had turned out to be a good one... without the sorry adivasi storyline. We Indians seem to thrive on movies centered around violence (sexual or otherwise) and this could've been a movie that satisfied the needs of each of the myriad strata of the Indian movie-going crowd. Nevertheless, thanks for saving us, TiC. I'm glad I'm not going to have to take in this seriously stale 'air'. Cheers! WP Read More
