I heard a foolish comment that Greg Chappell demoralised Irfan Pathan by changing his batting order ! What Irfan lost was the focus on length and line. Do you remember how many positions Roger Binny was made to bat ? Was Greg the coach in those days ? Is it wrong to bring younger people earlier into... batting ? Did Irfan not perform equally well in the earlier positions ? Shame on some Indians who do not remember the past. How many positions Solkar batted ? When he became elder, did Sunil Gavaskar not chose to come lower down the order in ODI and in this period did he not hammer all bowlers ?Read More

Have you seen what our own fine player Sanjay Manjrekar said about Greg ? Please read http://content-gulf.cricinfo.com/talk/content/multimedia/288811.html?view=transcript India under Greg performed as well as many other countries. Cricinfo's article analyses this very well. Is it not a gre...at honour espacially for the young players to be rubbing shoulders with Greg Chappell or a Viv Richards or a Kapil Dev ? This is what Greg offered. Hats off, Greg for your work here, for deflating the super ego of all seniors and for helping the juniors. We are so bad we can not use your knowledge of the game. We are so bad we have ill-treated you.Read More

Greg Chappell is undoubtedly one of the top 3 great ODI players of all time. As a 22 year old boy, he played the very first ODI between Australia and England in Jan,71 under his elder brother Ian's captaincy. The performances of Greg can be matched only by Viv Richards and no one else. That India c...ould not respect such a great player is sad. He was slapped by some idiot in Cuttack questioning why a Oriya player was not picked up in the national team. We do not have players in our team; we have stars. But stars don't play, they get paid. Did Greg ask Sourav to play that rash stroke when his score was just 7 against Sri Lanka ? Did Greg teach Sachin how to ignore your stumps when facing Dilhara Fernando ? Our cricketers should have shame and keep their mouths shut atleast until Indians come out of the grief of losing in the first round. Did Greg Chappell ask Vengsarkar to drop Ramesh Powar ? Did Greg ask the selection team to drop Dinesh Mongia ? Did Greg ask Dravid to drop Irfan Pathan from the team ? Did he ask them to bat first in the Bangladesh match ? Did he ask the stars to look down the Bangladesh match ? BCCI should sack senior players like Sachin, Sourav, Sehwag who did not deliver. They should sack the entire selection committee and appoint a new selection committee. Greg should be retained and allowed to build up an young team. Do our senior cricketers, who have belted opposition on Indian pitches, and have scored over 10,000 runs need a coach ? Indian tradition is that we respect visitors and offer hospitality. Greg came on our invitation and has to be respected even on this count which we did not do. Shame. There is no Indian player, except Kapil Dev, who is above the stature of our seniors for consideration as coach. Is Mohinder a good ODI player ? Is Sandip Patil a good ODI player ? Is Viswanath or Gavaskar a good ODI player ? Whom will they bring ? Clive Lloyd or Viv Richards or Allan Border or Steve Waugh or Kepler Wessels ?Read More

You said that Sachin is the greatest batsman. Is he really ? Have you analysed almost 2,500 test match players to come to this conclusion ? I doubt what you say. May be Donald Bradman and Gary Sobers are always many notches above Sachin Tendulkar. You can not judge a player by career average. You ha...ve to judge him consistently, series after series based on what he has done vs. what others have done. Probably the greatest Indian test match player is Vinoo Mankad but not Sachin.Read More

The extremist violence has taken toll on the Paradise. Hope the Govt. of Sri Lanka will crush the LTTE menace with an iron hand so that the Paradise is regained.

The computer programme gives credit to any innings where the batsman is not out. It also gives credit to the number of catches held by the player as fielder. In these two parameters, Laxman appears to have scored over Jaffer. Otherwise, performances of both were low.

There will be a lot of discussion on the subject. Every body hurls abuse on every body else. But we must be able to rate the performances on a 0-100 scale so that the performances are debated more rationally. I tried doing the same and used my computer to rate the performances in the just conclu...Read more

Indian Fans will be disheartened after the world cup because India will not be there in the top 4 teams, based on their current form and team selection. By not picking up Dinesh Mongia and R R Powar, the selection team bungled India's chances of reaching Semis but compounded it by selecting Sree...Read more

You have written beautifully about your choices. Have you heard songs from 'Anupama' a 1966 film for which Hemant Kumar provided music ? Asha sang a gem 'Bheegi Bheegi Fiza' and you are reminded of Lata's Hawa Mein Udta Jaye. If Lata came up with Pakeezah, Asha came strong in Umrao Jaan. Of course, ...I like Lata's Dheere Dheere Machal from Anupama the best of all songs in Anupama. I am amused by the words 'ruthh ke pahale jee bhar sataaoongee main, jab manaayenge wo man jaaoongee main', They are miracle sisters and my favourites. Lata's is the voice of a mother, sweet, always cherished. Asha's voice is that of a beloved, intoxicating. For a man, both are important. Lata 100 marks, Asha 99.Read More

Yes. As I work on the computer, I keep her songs playing and I keep working. Right now, Aayega Aanewala is going on. The freshness in her voice is unbelievable, like the freshness of dew, like the freshness of a flower. She is nature's miracle. And people like living abroad are related to India thro...ugh her (Oh, India, Lata...).Read More

It is extremely difficult to select only 20 songs of Lataji. It is as easy as capturing sky in a match box. Lata is the ultimate female voice. I have listened to her song for over 4 decades and can never get over the same. I listen to her song again and again. How I love this voice! I would anyd...Read more
