I fully agree with you on the qualty of teachers. All do not become teachers for the love of teaching or for the love of the profession but for... many other reasons. But a very good blog. Come on,don't be so selfish!
Very difficult and touching subject! My experience tells me that suicide is the result of very strong personal emotions. This or nothing. When one gets involved too strongly or very completely he/she cannot come out of it. At that time somebody has to enter his life and let that moment pass and forg...otten for the person to come out of thet moment. Suicides happen all over the world and for various reasons. Good blog. vinodRead More

Born in Agra in 1939, brought up and studied in Delhi. I have a store house of memories to recall. W...e lived in Government quarter located in a central place in Delhi. I could walk to my school. Recall Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Radhakrishnan, Krishna Menon and many others. These people used to come to college for giving talks. There were huge crowds to listen to Krishna Menon after his famous longest speech in UN on Kashmir. Moved to Bombay for job. Went to USA for training. Mahatma Gandhi used to live in huts not far from our quarter. We went to see him taking his morning walk in the company of Meeraben and Kamlaben(?). Sometimes he would lean on their shoulders. He came to our school on a holiday, Word spread and rushed to the school and were almost talking to him and saw him off in his Morris by closing the door. One day while returning from a function were surprised. The streets were deserted, not a soul. We neared some shops and learnt that he was assasinated. Hurrying home listened to the radio. I was a regular visitor to Ramakrishna Mission (RM) Lectures and performances by dignitaries were a regular feature at RM. I saw and heard Pt. Ravi Shankar’s sitar recital in RM. Nehru also came to RM. EDUCATION B.Sc.(Phys.Hons.) Delhi University. Joined Atomic Energy Establishment, Trombay in Bombay. This was renamed Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) after the tragic death of its founder Dr. Homi J Bhabha in a plane crash. M.Sc. and Ph.D. while working in BARC. Went to Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene & Public Health, Baltimore, in 1965 . Reading, Writing, Was a member of the USIS and the British Council(BC) Libraries in Mumbai. I remember reading in a periodical the description of the Indian saree as the most graceful and beautiful woman’s dress. Read a book from the BCL titled, “The Ochre Robe” by Agehananda Bharati (AB). AB was an American tourist who developed fascination for sadhus and himself converted. In the book he has described his xperiences. I am a technical person in research. Never been a single subject person. I saw many Bollywood and Hollywood movies. Of late I have lost interest in both and go to very few of them. Watching sports; tennis, hockey, football, volleyball, cricket, etc.Read More
