I always knew that on completion of my studies I wanted to be a Naval Pilot, The movie Top Gun made me acheving my Goal and my Dad’s Uninform it seemed exciting and glamorous. as I wanted to fulfil an ambition to achieve a high level of rowing for my Instution. My time at Institutrion broadened my horizons, so when the time came to chose which Service I might like to join, I didn’t immediately go for the IAF as the obvious choice for Flying jobs. I chose the Navy because it seemed to offer a greater challenge, and the opportunity to experience the more diverse aspects of flying, not to mention travel abroad and flying from warships.
Since joining the Indian Navy, and then becoming part of the ’Community’ of the Sea-Harriers, I have realised how I have come to be part of a very Professional, Hard Working group of people. Consistently delivering what is required of us to support the Fleet, and to Joint Operations. Being in the Navy I have been able to continue with my rowing and I have represented the Indian Navy several times. Sport is a major part of service life and any discipline of sport is greatly encouraged giving one the time and opportunity to maintain a high level of fitness. This is all built upon fantastic camaraderie, a good sense of humour, and knowing how to enjoy oneself! The best thing about the job is the flying, effectively I take my office with me, where and what height I chose. Really there are very few experiences in life that can beat flying, that coupled with the knowledge that the job I do has the potential to change people’s lives for the better is a great feeling and one that keeps me going.
