The oil only has the problems with the free radicals. It is the soy protein itself, which in the US is being thrown into so many things that people eating a normal American diet are getting at least that 25 g. Soy is one of the largest crops in the US. The West A. Price foundation does not 'se...ll' anything other than its research journal, so it has no monetary interest in telling people not to eat soy or refined oils. The only ones that profit from its approach are small farmers--certainly not big agri-business. And health is relative--people who only recently began to eat a Westernized diet will likely not see effects in themselves, and their children might not see them until they are adults. But for people like me, whose families have been eating a Westernized diet for generations, it is rare to be without allergies or heart problems or diabetes or cancer or autism. These things are rampant now in the U.S.; when I was a child they were much rarer. My family returned to eating a traditional diet when my oldest child was 4, and he is in the poorest health of my children. He has a form of autism and used to get regular ear infections. But now none of us have been sick at all in two years, and my husband and I, unlike most of our agemates, do not have to take any medication. And to tell about the USFDA and their corporate ties would require too much space.Read More

The first notice soy got as a health food was for estrogen-like effects. If you read all the articles on that website about soy, you will find that it only takes 120 g of isoflavones to mimic the effects of one birth control pill! My husband and my children do not need that. And that is just one ...of the fully-documented effects mentioned. Soy oil doesn't have that, but it is processed at high temperatures and heat, producing the free radicals that are so dangerous, and containing none of the beneficial factors of traditionally-pressed oils and fats.Read More

The CDC is a US government agency using its own research. The Lancet is the U.K.'s most prestigious peer-reviewed medical journal. Many of the other articles on the website I mentioned include The New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Medical Association as their sources,... particularly where it talks about saturated fats vs. the new manufactured oils. Why the standard textbooks do not reflect this research would require a review of the textbooks.Read More

I got to see this in the theatres the day before I went into labor with my third child. That event put the movie out of my mind until I got the DVD for my second child for her birthday. From the perspective of a parent, this is one to grow on. Even very young children will enjoy the bright co...Read more

I used canola oil for years, and soy oil, corn oil, and other manufactured oils. Then I read on the westonaprice.org website information with solid scientific documentation from sources like The Lancet, and now I read labels to ensure I'm not eating any of those oils. There are two huge probl...Read more
