'This is Mann’s style'.. Err... Would you please educate me then, what is Mann's style? I have seen all of his movies - oh yeah, except for 'Heat', I didn't like any of his movies either ;-) - Yes Yes, that includes 'The Insider' too ;-) I await the Lord to educate me! Sire, if you m...ay wish, I will henceforth forward all my reviews to your personal email for comments, suggestions and feedback. Indeed, if your highness approves the review with your immensely important and pertinent observations, and gives me the honor of going ahead, will I then attempt posting it on MS! Awaiting your education.... SuyogRead More

Where did I say there is a connection between Mann and Tarantino ;-). Maybe u didn't read the review right, or you saw the movie wrong - it was easy as hell to make out the forced humor in action. Now tarantino is a master at that - Mann fails miserably. So what if I think Travolta could have bee...n better - I am entilted to think without asking your permission my lord ;-) Samuel Jackson? did you read the review again - did u miss those words in curly bracket? Even I know its a stupid comparision, but its in the review for the heck of it ;-) Maybe u need to get your thinking right dude - u are a jerk who thinks that ppl who don't agree with your contrived thinking are idiots. Sigh, its a pity - I can only laff at the magnitude of your haughtiness and ridicule you on your absolute lack of intelligence ;-) Keep inking - MS needs nincompoops like you ;-) SuyogRead More

What happens when Tom Cruise tries to do a John Travolta? What happens when Michael Mann decides to tread Tarantino Way? What happens when Jamie Foxx tries to do a Samuel Jackson? (oh well, the last one isn’t even the right one ;-)) You get a colossally contrived and corny film ca...Read more

'To sum it up, Three Brothers is a movie worth watching once. The one thing that this movie lacks is a repeat value.' This is precisely what I felt about this movie - I got this dvd at walmart for 3 bucks - didn't know a grain about this movie when I got it, but it was one of my experimentation d...ays lol ;-) Liked this movie, but yes, exactly my thots - I wonder if I will see it again! 'You didn’t say that this book wasn’t written in English first, or say who the translator was.' -- Your point being? Should I ask you what to omit or not to omit in my review? Is that a comparative analysis between your and my review? Hahahahahah! 'I left you a comment in your revi...ew, that said I had read this book. I didn’t want my review to look like yours.' -- The fact is lyla, that you have hardly written anything different from what I wrote. Anyone in their sane sense will realize reading my review and reading your review that all you did was to re-phrase what I wrote. Why given so many brilliant and tragic incidents in the book - the only thing you really had to mention in your review were the insects and paris incident. Even if you visited amazon.com, I am sure you did getter better stories and much deepr incidents in the book to write about. [Or perhaps, If you had m2m-ed me, I would have told you some!] -- So you also thought this book was bibilical, poetic, tragic, romantic, surreal - err, the 'exact' same feelings I have mentioned in my review - sigh, thats some telpathy ;-) -- the fact is, you didn't put anything in this review to be bluntly put. I am sorry if this sounds rude, But frankly hypocrisy is one thing I can't stand ;-) Suyog Read More

For starters, you may wish to read this piece - http://www.forward.com/issues/2000/00.06.02/arts.html The author happens to be a associate professor of modern Jewsih history in Judiac studies at a esteemed university called SUNY albany. Unless of course he is challenging the supreme being i...n your form, I am willing to believe him ;-). 'You must know that I am Jewish and the legend of the lamed-vov is believed by religious Jews to be fact.' -- Yes I know and I know the legend and I know Jews believe it too - then why don't you explain it in your review too lyla. I am sure you did do a great job of it - given your great detail for travel reviews (come to think of it, you remember whom you met after thirty years in North Korea, and relate to us with such vividity), I am sure you did have no problems in letting us know your history too. Believing in legends is one thing, absurdity of that belief is another ;-). I am sorry lyla, at present, I think u are on the other line. 'I am a Levi as well, because I am a descent of the great Sage Rashi, (whoes lineage goes back to Mose’s brother Aaron).' -- Great - then what are you doing on MS? shouldn't you be solving world problems? Shouldn't you be solving all the unforseen problems of this world? My My - we have a family of levy's combined with a great sage!!! 'You didn’t tell about Ernie and the insects in your review. This is a symbol, of the Jews who worked for the Nazis, to save their lives.' -- First - read my review again, correctly. IF you didn't see about those insects, then I am sorry you didn't read my review ;-). -- Secondly, killing insects is a symbol of jews who worked for Nazis? - Are you kidding me?!!!! This is helluva symbol! cont'd below...Read More

I wish you had written this review with a little more research and thought on such a good book. If you loved the book so much, how did miss the fact this is NOT a true story - AND its based on fiction. The legend of Lamed-Vov is itself not true incident, and whats more, the author has just used a... figment of the legend. If you notice the end which is the most painful part of the book - you realize its not a story about Ernie, but a story encompassing every Jew who underwent the agony. Sad, that a book you hold such high esteem, you miss the very essence of the book. BTW, whatever I mentioned in my review probably does not even cover the other great moments in the book - in fact, the Paris episode is just three pages in the entire book, and doesn't even do justice to the entire book ;-). Ask me in a m2m and I will let you know why I put it. Oh yeah, I can expect your familiar brand of bodyguards to come after me as I am a demon, but I care a hoot ;-) Keep inking... Suyog Read More

Thanks pals - In this age when MS has more or less settled as cinema review site, it feels great to see so many comments on a book review, that too a dark and serious book as this. Rupan - thanks a lot for the comments. If you like A fine Balance, you will love this one too - take my word. Nopes,... I haven't read Sophie's Choice, though I have heard a lot about it. psmukund - Yeah, I can trust that general on what you said. Amistad is a wonderful film, and yes - slavery would definitely rank against genocide as an evil. Cousin2 - thanks a lot for the comments - I truly feel that this time you have commented from your heart. jayanthsv - exactly, i fail to understand how can some race be so condemned that they are killed? thanks for the comment. girl-u-can-trust - Jews may be one of thee most discriminated, not necessarily most. Though yes, they have been through a lot of suffering - but the point is, their stories have lived on to haunt us - there might so many others we don't even know of. Ewling - thanks a lot for the comments - do read this one! satis007 - thanks a lot - do read this one. abbey - its so nice to see ya after such a long time. come what may, I agree that one must be proud of their roots. Thanks for the comment! Fatcat - Yeah, spielberg could make this movie. I am sure he did not disappoint - why spielberg, I think even Roman Polanski would do a great job on this theme. Though, when you read the ending lines of the book, u will think different. Do read this one! balagi - Yeah, subjected ;-) Right!!!! Wait till I get ya somewhere hehheh! Frankly, I kindda didnt feel I actually wrote this while doing something else ;-) Thanks a lot everyone - keep them coming! SuyogRead More
