Juggernaut, If ya think that economic backwardness shudnt be the only criterion then what do ya suggest? That we shud stick to caste based reservations and push the coun...try back to the Varnashrama days? Ofcourse economic backwardness is just one possible solution. Ram, Sorry about replying so late. Thanks for leaving a comment. I read somewhere (must have been Hindu) about a doctor having killed a pregnant woman and her child, not by accident but it was an act of ignorance. The medical terms did intimidate me a bit but all that I cud gather from the rep...ort was that the guy goofed up and that primarily because he was awarded a seat on basis of his caste inspite of his having faired poorly in all the pre-requisite subjects. The val day thingy has to wait cuz MS wont let me add the topic :(. Political party??? Sure why not. I was giving it a serious thought but the darned Supreme Court has barred people who have been charged in criminal cases from contesting in the elections. So I will offer u the role of La Pra Ya. Hi, Nice review there Mrs Vijayalakshmi. Brought back fond memories. I was born and brought up there and u managed to kinda sum up everything that I grew arnd in my childhood days. whizkris, The aquarium is right next to Icehouse. I dont know if it was shifted there but it has been there fo...r quite sometime now. And about adding Shirdi Sai Baba temple to the list of places to visit, well the number of beggars who hog the roads on Thursdays and to a lesser extent on other days puts people off. About why recipients of reservation are allowed to compete in the general category is because only a handful of castes like the Brahmins, Mudaliars and a few more are not covered by the reservation system. If the people from o...ther castes and communities are not allowed to compete with these people in the general category as well, it effectively becomes a reservation system which covers the forward caste people as well. Hope you get what I am trying to say. I concur with your thoughts regarding Muslims having ruled us for 600 years. But in the 20th century they werent in a very enviable position and hence the government decided to include them in the oppressed people list as well. Cheers ShreyaRead More
