THIS IS MY 150TH REVIEW! THANKS TO PAUL FOR REMINDING ME!

Rakesh

Roshan has always been the director of all the movies of his production company, Filmkraft Productions. So when he had announced that he will make a comic flick with a debutant director donning the director’s hat, it had made huge news. What further made the news was Hrithik is not going to be in the main cast and that he and SRK (and also Rakhi) are going to do item numbers in this flick. The trailers had already created tremendous hype and curiosity and all this is what helped the film to take an excellent start. So does Krazzy4 meet all the expectations? Fortunately,YES! The movie is an excellent fresh comic entertainer and is going to make a great profit at the BO!

The story of the movie: Raja (Arshad Warsi), Mukherjee (Irrfan Khan), Gangadhar (Rajpal Yadav) and Dabboo (Suresh Menon) are four patients in We Care Rehabilitation Centre, a mental hospital on the outskirts of Mumbai. Raj is a hot tempered guy, once angry-he will break everything around him. Mukherjee has an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and thinks that he is a doc and always wants his surroundings to be clean. Gangadhar is a schizophrenic patient who feels that India is still under the British rule. And Dabboo is cute and sweet guy but is mute, since the age of 4. Dr Sonali (Juhi Chawla), is a sensitive psychiatrist who understands her patients well. She gave group therapy to Raja, Mukherjee, Gangadhar and Daboo and one day, she decided to take four of them out of the asylum to show them a cricket match, as part of their treatment. When they reached Mumbai, Dr Sonali suddenly got kidnapped. The Krazzy4 were then helpless-they were in an unknown city with no money in their pockets. They felt that they need to rescue Dr Sonali at any cost. Will they be successful in their mission?
Who kidnapped Dr Sonali?
And why?

Krazzy4 is quite different from comic flicks released in recent times like Dhamaal, Dhol, Golmaal etc. Though the movie rests on a waferthin plot, it has been wonderfully directed and executed which grips the viewer’s attention and entertains them thoroughly!

In the beginning itself, the craziness of the characters is shown and that too in a perfect manner. However, later, some scenes, though funny, doesn’t interest much. However, the film again gets interesting during the Renaissance Hotel scene and the intermission point. I consider this as the best point of the movie.

The second half also dragged and some may feel that scenes like Irrfan meeting his family are unnecessary but it helped the story, especially in the climax. In this way, no scene or sequence was unnecessary. The only problem with the movie was the song ‘Ik Rupaiyya’ which failed to entertain and raise laughs.

All four of the main actors were great but the best among them was undoubtedly Rajpal Yadav! He was completely perfect for his role of a ‘freedom fighter at the wrong time and the wrong place’ and did an outstanding job. Even his share of dialogues was fantastic. His speech in the climax was simply amazing. He has always given some memorable performances and here too, he does the same! Great work, Rajpal!

Arshad Warsi also played his part perfectly. In Krazzy4, viewers get to see a different Arshad Warsi and he proves that he is capable for ‘angry young man’ roles too! Irrfan Khan went completely into the skin of his character and delivered a splendid performance. Another great performance from a great actor!

Suresh Menon was the surprise of the movie! He looked very cute and sweet and it was his expressions and smile which did most of the talking. After Deewane Huye Paagal, this is definitely the second best performance of Suresh Menon.

Juhi Chawla looked beautiful and enacted her role with ease. Good to know that she has 3 releases this year-Bhoothnath, Aladdin and Kismet Konnection. Dia Mirza as Shikha also did a fine job. She deserves to get full-fledged roles. Rajat Kapoor as Sanyal was as usual perfect! Same for Zakir Hussain as DCP Srivastav.

Shahrukh Khan was rocking in his song and was quite enjoyable! Hrithik was cool and stylish and his dance moves were superb. But I feel his dance in Dhoom:2 title track was better. Rakhi Sawant’s dance was good. Others were good.

Rajesh Roshan’s music was good and breezy. Special mention should also be made of Ram Sampat! Raju Singh’s background score was good and suited the movie. Cinematography was normal. Action was cool.

Ashwani Dheer (writer, dialogue writer and director of One Two Three) wrote the story, dialogues and screenplay. All three were terrific! While the story was funny and interesting, dialogues and the one-liners were quite witty and funny, especially the ones given to Rajpal Yadav! Screenplay was completely proper.

Jaideep Sen’s direction was flawless and the director did a fantastic job in his first film itself. He did full justice to the story and came up with an interesting funny flick! I am sure that provided with a good story, Jaideep would do a great job in his 2nd flick too! Best of luck!

Some of the funny scenes of the movie:
1.    The introduction of four main characters
2.    The song ‘O Re Lakad’, ‘Break Free’ (both versions)
3.    Sonali getting kidnapped
4.    Raja at Shikha’s house (very very funny!)
5.    The Renaissance Hotel scene and intermission point (Excellent!)
6.    The middle finger scene!
7.    The fake kidnapping scene
8.    The chase sequence (terrific!)
9.    The final scene

On the whole, Krazzy4 is a wonderful entertainer which entertains thoroughly! It’s just 2 hours in duration and packs a lot of entertainment and paisa-vasool stuff in these 2 hours. Go, grab your ticket and enjoy!
