This is a true story. I am glad that this review has a happy ending but there occurred some unfortunate events that leads me to write this review.
My mom is a regular visitor to the Image super specialty hospital at Ameerpet for monthly medical check-ups as she has been diagnosed with Type-2 Diabetes(also known as insulin dependent Diabetes) in the past. On a certain check-up, it was found that her blood sugar was high enough to be called in for admission in the hospital and to be placed under constant medical attention to bring the glucose levels to normal.
My mom decides to get admitted in the hospital that very night.
Now unfolds the real Imagery hospitality at the admission desk @ 10 PM
-> The lady at the admission counter is so preoccupied with the chat she is involved with the person sitting next to her that it takes two " excuse me's" to get her partial attention.
-> After telling her the Docs name and the reason for admission, she slams a Patient file on the desk and asks me to fill it up.
-> After carefully reading all the terms and conditions mentioned in the file and signing where ever required, I return it back to her but she insists that I sign at every place even where the signature is not really required.
The lady insists that I sign below the statement that reads " In case the patient is a minor, The guardian.blah. blah. has to sign below"
.she would not accept any reason for me not signing there as my mother is not a minor but bluntly calls it a procedure to get admitted in the hospital.(Just imagine the plight of any uneducated person in the same situation as I am)
I had to sign there finally.
-> With no regard to time, she makes the whole deal of getting admitted into the hospital a 45 minute ordeal.
-> Oh! and I almost forgot the faces she was making all this while. She was clearly trying to show us that it is really a painful process to work through the process of getting a patient admitted into the hospital at that time.
-> Finally, we are given a cabin and my mom finally makes her way in. My mom was well and fine from the beginning with no symptoms of any high blood sugar although the blood sugar was high in the reports.
-> The head nurse for the cabins immediately called up the doctor and followed all the procedures as told. He was friendly & that gave me a sense of relief finally.
->The stay in the hospital was meant to be for 3 days but it was stretched to a week. One thing that is often practiced here at the hospital is that the patient is always kept on his/her toes. They say that the patient has to take a test on a specific day but never tell you the time when it will be done. And even if they tell you the time, it is seldom correct This is a huge problem if one needs to be with the patient during the tests.
-> Doc says, take the test but fails to turn up to see the results and pass the verdict. A day extra at the hospital. They also have a no discharge policy of not discharging a patient after 2pm(not sure of the time).
-> If you happen to be waiting for the lift and the managing director cum chairman, Dr. C.V Rao** is leaving the hospital by exiting the lift on that very floor, don't be alarmed if the security person asks you to scoot about. It evokes a feeling that Mr.Rao is doing us a favor by providing his gracious services for free.
->Parking is plenty but the haphazard way of parking makes it difficult to find a spot sometimes.(2 wheeler)
->Finally, the happy ending. My mom is all well and fine. Same as the beginning and also, the blood sugar level is in control.
-> Bills are taken care of by the Benefit scheme she is covered under. That is a reason for the docs to call in for unnecessary checks sometimes.
-> The helping boys and girls are often asked to work over time. This happened twice during our stay. Don't blame them for not being responsive but its a reflection of how shabby the management at this hospital is.
-> The hospital is kept clean and tidy. That's one of the good things about this branch.
-> Since this is a private hospital, one can do away with giving tips or even being pestered for tips unlike in other hospitals.
I think now one can get the idea of how things are run at this Hospital.Over all, its a friendly atmosphere at the cabins but the process of moving files from one department to another if the need arises is very slow. The second department will never be as eager to help as the first.
Finally, I would like to say that the hospital does not always deliver what it promises. One can go there for average patient care but it also depends on how the care takers(the nurses) are.The better trained and less stressed they are, the better care they give. Like other reviewers say, the prices are too exorbitant at this hospital.
That's my story.
