On Sunday, 26 September, Zee TV had telecast a popular movie ?Munna Bhai MBBS?. The quality of transmission was not up to the mark. There were short blackouts, which are frequently
seen when people play a cheaply priced locally available CD and it gets stuck often. Perhaps Zee TV is also using such CDs and saving on the cost of original CDs. This has naturally annoyed us, but the real irritant was the frequent interruption of movie telecast by a large number of commercial breaks. The movie started early in the evening but due to lot of time consumed by these commercial breaks continued late in the night.

Indian people have by now become accustomed to advertisements during popular programmes, but to what extent TV channels can expect viewers to tolerate this nuisance. TV channels need finances for running their business but should it be done in this manner that the basic purpose of enjoyment is defeated? In yesterday?s movie the number of and time taken by these advertisements were so high that it spoiled the entire show and also our evening. It was no more an entertainment but a source of headache. After 1130 PM our patience ran out and we had to switch-off the TV and call it a day to remain fit for another working week.

It was not the first time we were watching Munna Bhai MBBS. We had seen it earlier and enjoyed it. When we came to know that Zee TV was telecasting it we were eager to watch it again and repeat our earlier enjoyment. But Zee TV spoiled our entire evening. After our first viewing of the movie we have been discussing it amongst ourselves. Each one of us was having his or her own favourite scenes and wanted to enjoy them again. But due to anti-viewer approach of Zee TV second viewing of the movie was not enjoyable and also we could not see full movie. Should we thank Zee TV for spoiling our Sunday evening?
