It may be Indias first private Hindi channel, it may what is most popular in Indian visual media;but what is it to us the foreigners or in a more subtle way to us NRIs?
CRAP & nothing but CRAP:::
A few years before I met Subhash Chandra,the man behind Zee TV in London at the Indian High Commission party and asked him a question and I ask the same question to him again via this review: WHAT ARE YOU OFFERING TO INDIANS ABROAD?At that time he just smiled and I know he would react the same way today.
We people of Indian origin, who emigrated few decades ago by choice or compulsion, can not relate to the programmes on Zee TV - Viz Amanat,
Ashirwad, Koshish to name the few. We have come off age and realised that there are other more important things in life than the petty family squabbles - that life is too short to grieve aon imaginary hurdles and turmoils. Zee TV should, with its media power project everything Indian that we can feel proud of; can relate to: Let Zee TV show the tragidies of India in India.The only good programme Zee had was SAREGAMA, when Sonu Nigam was the anchor, but now even that is gone down the drain
I know for certain, being in the visual media myself that our youth shy away from Indian channels( and there are many like Lashkara,B4U, Sony etc) not because of the language but the crap programmes it telecast.
I am sure how the viewers in the USA react,(may be Raju can comment) bor in South Africa, but certainly in the UK and Europe Zee is losing its subscribers daily and people are now switching over to Channel East, an Indian channel started in the UK, with local programmes and features, aimed at the Indian youth of today.
