The one channel that is a real oasis in the desert of ’Saas-Bahu-bitching-bashing’, Zee English provides some quality entertainment, and an international at that one. The only downside is probably the number of times it repeats the promos of its programmes. I mean the break between any serial is almost the same. Apart from that, Zee English is the one channel I cannot do without.

Shows to watch out for:

1) F.R.I.E.N.D.S. season 8 and 9: I couldn’t be more greatful to Zee English for airing the much anticipated and awaited seasons 8 and 9 of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Did you guys watch the Friends season 9 marathon on the friendship’s Day? Now a days however the channel continues to air season 8 over and over again, but who wouldn’t like to watch such an all time comedy again and again? There are enough re-runs of Friends throughout the week, and if you are a busy person and cannot find time on weekdays, no problem...you can catch the entire 5 shows on sunday at 2 pm.

2) Full House: What can I say about this cute family comedy? Full House is one great show full of laughter, family fun and yo also the one that you can see with your entire family. And yet it is so much different and un-indian. I mean The Tanners live in a big house with Uncle Jesse, Aunt Becky and their two oh-sho-cute twins. And yes there is also Joey. Yet there’s no bitching unlike our own saas-bahu crap that have taken upon themselves to teach us what Indian family values and traditions are. Our serials should learn from Full House. Hello Ektaa are you listening?

3)Will and Grace: I dont know how Indian audience is going to accept this show based on homosexuality. But who cares about the Indian audience? Will Trueman is a gay lawyer and Grace Adler is a straight fashion designer, and they live in the same appartment. Will Grace is a comedy show par excellence and the situational comedy takes it to a level where the sexual oreintation of the characters become incidental. But not at a single point does it trivilises or makes fun of gays and lesbians. Look at Will and you will realise gays are not necessarily the drag queens. And believe me it is watchable with entire family.

And that’s not all. Watch out for Mad TV, The Hogan Family, Jack and Jill, Zoe, Opposite Sex, Caroline in the city and other such great shows. Zee English has something for everyone. Besides being an English channel, the constant exposure to the language helps develop the vocabulary and overall communication skills. As far as entertainment is concerned its superb. Not only the shows mentioned above but it also telecasts live shows like Emmy Awards, Miss World etc. There is however one drawback.....all the shows mentioned above are not their current seasons.

So enjoy this one great channel. You might find it monotonous becaus of constant re-runs of all its shows. But what the heck its still a winner.
