Story:

I've been a huge fan of this book ever since I read it for the first time in 2012,

Its written by a motivational speaker named Shiv Khera, born in Dhanbad, India. Khera is a tremendous public speaker who used to instill optimism and positive energy among the listeners just through his sheer stage presence and demeanor.

In You Can Win, he explains the strategies and attitudes one needs to encompass in order to succeed in every walk of life.

" Winners don't do different things, they do things differently " is his famous dictum.

Khera explains it all in a layman's language with aesope-like examples that tingles your senses.

According to him, Positive thinking alone cannot guarantee success. “It is a supplement, not a substitute for your action plan. Your positive action combined with positive thinking results in success.”

Khera says:

Avoid miscommunication. The price you pay for it is horrendous.

Ego can destroy team work/effort.

Set your goal. It helps you know where you are heading.

Have a vision. It is the ability to see the invisible. If you can see the invisible, you can achieve the impossible.

Credibility and integrity are vital. Organisations with credibility make higher profits.

It is better to be honourable than be honoured.

Don’t quit. Don’t give up.

These words of wisdom might seem bland and insipid on the face of it but if you've listened to Khera's words and can relate to his examples you can win might turn your career and fortune. This book have once helped to come out of a dangerously deep depression.

Just the story of the half filled, half empty cup inspires you to do more. And more importantly khera doesn't preach things. He explains it instead.

According to khera, posessing a sense of responsibility, accepting your mistakes and further mending them, avoiding criticism, good listening, being enthusiastic, honest and faithful, thinking positive and smiling, are the key metrics to Building a Positive Attitude.

Khera also talks about goal setting, the power of your subconscious mind and various other nuances that contributes to success.

He talks about the importance of doing a SWOT on ourselves so that success can be implemented on a day to.day basis.

The slight problem is that compared to other books, You Can Win is a bit too light for our own goodness. The resonance of the book is wafer thin as opposed to reading impact it gives on the outset, which is fulfilling.

It lacks the sheer resonance of a story based The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari or The Seven Habits of highly effective people.(TMWSHF& TSHOHEP)

There is that pportion in Seven habits where Covey explains about how your life's worth will be judged on the day of your funeral.

What others say about you when you die, is what you Become, is what you've achieved.

In a nutshell You Can Win alongside The Secret can be the boarding points to self-helps while TMWSHF and TSHOHEP remains the flagships. Period.
