We wanted to buy a vehicle for my wife. Since she was learning driving that time we wanted something that weighs less. The options were few in petrol driven. Then we came across this electrical bike in INDORE.  Weight is quite less. We live in  govt. colony where most of the things are available nearby. So really amount of distance traveled per day is not that large. So we had settled for this since the price is also competitive(25k).

Basically this consists of a motor(250-350 Watt) and four battery(sealed lead acid)

each battery is 12v and the current capacity is 20 -24 Ah( what we have is 20 Ah. what this means is that each battery can deliver 12V voltage and one can draw 20 ampere current for an hour approx. since we have 4 batteries in series, it is 48V x 20 A  capacity. but since the motor is only 250 W this will draw  6 A approx and at that rate we should able to use 3-4hours. you can convert into distance. This bike should cover 30-40 km per charge and maximum speed is 20-25 km per hour).

But this is theory. In practice all batteries deliver 10A, 12Ato 14 Amp practically.

Do you use a mobile phone? They say do not charge the mobile phone battery until it is fully exhausted. Same is the story here. The company advices you to charge when only it is mostly exhausted. The do this  periodically when we take for servicing what they call as deep discharging.

They are also supposed to check the batteries for the current capacity and look for bad batteries. But unfortunately most of the dealers test all the batteries put together and do

not test them individually.  In my case when I insisted the service center people had tested the batteries separately(9.jun.2014) just before the warranty is almost over and found that one of the battery is giving 0AH(dead).

*But the company people took five months from this only to say that the battery is OK.

Now the mileage of the bike is hardly 10 km per charge.*

03.10.13 Ah 11.0 10.9 11.0 11.0

18.01.14 Ah 11.0 11.0  10.9 11.0

09.06.14 Ah 12.8 10.0 11.7  0.6

so my feeling is that conceptually this is good but delivered in very very bad manner. The company sleeps on the matters. and the dealers are unprofessional. So only customers

suffer.

I understand that in Indore one customer is fighting a case in consumer court for last one year. No hopes.

So the moral of the story that electrical bikes are for developed countries where everybody work professional(company, dealer and the customer) and not countries like us where service standards are lot to be improved.
