Although I have nothing but contempt for our Hindi comedy serials which are generally slapstick, vulgar and loud, ''Yes Boss'' is a serial which I have started watching thanks to my ''Boss'' (meaning, my wife). Since it coincides with my dinner time, I have little option but to leave my brains outside the room and immerse myself in the world of Mohan, Meera and Vinod. And in the past few weeks, I must (grudgingly) admit that it has started to grow on me.
The plot is pretty contrived and is totally unbelievable. Vinod Verma is a CEO in an ad agency and Meera is No.2. Meera is married to Mohan who is an executive in the same company. However, in order to protect the career prospects of both, the couple decide to keep the marriage a secret from their boss. (The funny part is that everyone else in the office knows about it, how nobody squeals is a wonder!)
Anyway, each episode is about the hilarious situations that the characters find themselves in and the lengths that they go to maintain their secret. Some of the ideas are quite innovative and funny.
The acting is quite good with superb comic timing from the regulars like Rakesh Bedi (Mohan), Sulbha Arya (Meera's mom) and Delnaz whatever (Vinod's wife). In addition, the not-so-regular-in-comedy actors like Asif Sheikh (Vinod) and Kavita Kapoor (Meera) also provide good support.
Do watch it, but don't risk trying to analyse it.
