The staff at insurance department (6th floor) are very inexperienced. They mark lab tests as non-medical expenses. Almost, half of the medicine are marked as non-medical expense. They buy so much of gloves and needles but never use it. All these are taken before you leave the hospital and you end up paying for these as these are non-medical expenses. If you don't mind the distance then Apollo or Fortis is a better choice for surgeries.
These hospitals have quality doctors and you don't have to mind the cost as you may have insurance (insurance companies have negotiated the prices with these hospitals and these hospitals have experienced staff at insurance desk). In Apollo or Fortis, you may pay very less non-medical expenses and hence less out flow from your pocket for any surgery or stay in the hospital. These hospitals have good rapport with TPAs.
Yashomati is a definite "NO" for surgeries. You may end up paying 1/3rd of the cost as they will mark them as non-medical expenses. How can lab tests related to a surgery be non-medical? TPAs blame it on the hospital and their inexperienced staff. They will then ask you to submit a separate claim for reimbursing those expenses. Then it is not cashless. Management staff in the hospital are dumbos. They never understand your problem and are also rude. TPAs also don't recommend this hospital.
